Naruto Shippuden Ep. 298 (BACK TO ENG DUB!!!)

@Carson. To answer your question. First like many things Kishimoto drew upon religion and mythology for the Sharingan EMS powers. The Shinto Amatsukami means the Celestial Gods of Heaven. The Kotoamatsukami means or refers to the original, most powerful, most foundation Celestial Gods of Heaven, the first five who came into existence and who were the progenitors of all the other gods in some capacity. I am not going to type out their names because they are like really long. Anyway, Kishimoto has only used indirect evidence of the existence of the various deities in Naruto. The only one we ever see are the various Shinigami who appear during the Shiki Fuin (Reaper Death Seal) and um, slight spoiler, in one future episode. The Japanese Shinto deities in Naruto appear to lend their natures to EMS abilities. Naming Shisui's EMS the Kotoamatsukami means it is the highest ability, as Itachi identifies in the episode. Now as to how they know how it works, remember there is a lot of hidden lore in Naruto. In the anime the Uchiha, Senju and Uzumaki clans are almost 1000 years old. The EMS abilities as well as things like Mokuton and Adamantine Sealing Chains have shown up before as kekkei genki. So the lore about them exists. Now, here a difference between the manga and anime. In the manga, Kagami Uchiha is Shisui's ancestor. In the anime I think its stated that he is his grandfather. Shisui in the anime states that Kagami was more powerful than him. Danzo's best friends were Hiruzen Sarotobi and Kagami Uchiha. Danzo in the manga explicitly trusted Kagami, which is probably why Shisui trusted Danzo., It is highly indirectly indicated that Kagami had the same EMS as Shisui, but never directly stated. It is also highly indicated that one way or another after his death, Danzo got Kagami's Sharigan. Since they were best friends, most think that Kagami gave it to him on death but their is no proof of that. Also, in the manga, we never find out how Danzo got Shisui's eye. They only fight with Danzo betraying Shisui in the anime. And Danzo only got his Hashirama upgrade after the Kyuubi attack and before Orochimaru fled the village (in Kishimoto's retcon via novel, Orochimaru became a traitor several years after the Kyuubi attack). So the 10 year timer with just Uchiha chakra and the shortened cooldown with senju chakra is part of the hidden back lore that you get from Kishimoto via interviews or stuff like novels and databooks. In the manga and anime when they come up, they come up as info dumps.

I do know that there’s the super genjutsu in Shisui’s left eye of Kotomatsukami, then there’s the less powerful that can be spammed. The right eye is the less powerful that Danzo used multiple times within that 10 year span of Kotomatsukami. My guess is that Shisui got his Mangekyou really young or attempted to use Kotomatsukami in the left eye or perhaps experimented using his eyes and maybe felt the left eye has a longer cool down than his right. Even in the Storm 4 game when you use his ultimate, he uses his right eye, the less powerful one.

idk the stuff said to justify shisui's eye use gets kind of squirrely, but it makes itachi look like an absolute chad so I'm down lmao

I dont know if Shisui used the Kotoamatsukami before hand....but it was the jutsu he was going to use on Itachi's father to protect the leaf and the clan...but then Danzo stole his eye so he never had the chance to use it then....I guess Itachi could have used it at any point when Shisui bequeathed his eye....but he had to come up with a plan and he did. Itachi is a goat

Shisuis 10 year charge is a plot hole that’s never explained. It’s never stated or showed that the 10 year doesn’t apply to him. If it didn’t he’s literally the most op character so I doubt it doesn’t apply to him.

Itachi is such a G!!! The cool thing tho is that reanimations are normally a little weaker than their live versions but with Itachi having stamina issues and ravaged with likely disease he’s actually arguably stronger than when he fought Sasuke! Oh and as for the limits on Shisui’s eye, that applies to everyone except him since he’s the original owner. Idk how often he could use it but with him having it available in two eyes I don’t see him ever really needing Hashirama cells

Thank god you two are back to the dub. I think I have the same reason for wanting to watch dub. It’s the attachments I have for these characters for how they sound like in dub. Also I think because it’s shisui eyes, he could use the genjutsu over and over. Remember at the 5 kage summit, Ao from the hidden mist knew about the power of shisui’s eye. So shisui must have used it himself multiple times.
