So the office closure wasn't recent, or if it was recent it wouldn't have directly impacted his dad I dont think

2021-08-27 19:42:02 +0000 UTCTomoya proposing to her at his lowest point after she stopped him from hurting himself in frustration, that was so unexpected and touching. The whole time I had been thinking ok maybe he'll take her out and they'll build up to his proposal or something, but no, it happens right after he tells his dad off and storms outside in an emotional wreck. It wouldn't be my ideal proposal situation but it just makes sense in this story and it's really sweet!

Also, Tomoya's dad caused the injury to his shoulder, which cost him his basketball career - him costing him his job opportunity means Tomota is reliving that all over again. It's kind of understandable he'd hate his dads guts at this point.
