Tokyo Revengers Ep. 16

now that we've seen up to ep 19 and we saw a glimpse of his homelife, i think that scene makes alot mroe sense. I think before the whole incident, he actually really did love mikey like a brother, and still does maybe (we haven't seen past 19 so no spoilers please), but I think he saw that other birthday party, thought of his own fractured homelife, and thouhgt, "I'm gonna make sure that mikey has the best birthday ever, cause that way I'll feel good for making someone elsefeel happy" its so innocent and actually well written and well thought out. Sure its a bit "anime" the way things all play out, like its a bit convenient, but the core itself is genuinely wholesome

I'm genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised by your commentary on Kazutora's mindset at the end of the bike shop scene. I've watched multiple reactions to this episode, and almost everyone thought Kazutora's blame game was either stupid, unrealistic, or bad writing. I think you guys are spot on, and I'm not just saying that because we're in agreement. When this episode first came out, my takeaway was that Kazutora felt so overwhelmed by guilt that he couldn't process this new reality, created as a direct consequence of his actions. Like Carson said, Kazutora's desire to kill Mikey seems like a desperate attempt to wipe away his guilty conscience and make the pain go away. It's essentially a coping mechanism. Regarding that scene where Kazutora seems angry after seeing those people celebrating a birthday at the restaurant, I wonder if his reaction has something to do with his own family life. Maybe he comes from an abusive or unloving family, so he gets jealous by seeing a happy family? Or maybe he doesn't have a family at all, and he's feeling envious of the kid who does?
