It's crazy how good Kyoto animation was back in the day. The way the robot was ripped apart was some stunning effects

Johan

our vimeo is full, we're trying to find a way to get it out

383?

i didnt know that about his depression. Thats interesting. He seems like the kind of guy who hates being tied down. So putting a character through a strict and plotted out arc is probably really boring for him. That might be why a lot of foreshadowing that he does at the beginning of his arcs kind of goes nowhere. He probably just wants to lose himself in writing the story as it comes to him. idk just speculation

BOLDcast

Yea, this is contender for my least fav part 3 anime arc alongside the sun episode. In the manga its paced really well and only a few chapters but they made it 2 episodes for some reason. Although jojo is mostly comedy araki loves to really go off the walls comedically before he gets serious in a part. He does this because he has actually gotten depressed writing other parts before (like part 5). At least we all know araki was having the time of his life drawing the boingo adventure lmao

Meme Team!

Definitely watch the CAS recap episode, I think it's episode 24. It helps putting some things in perspective.

Ugly Pig

In 382 that's when they all realize what cosmic fucking shit bags they were to Naruto all his life and that he is a far better human being that most of them.

The Truth-Seeking orbs are based loosely on some concepts from Mahayana Buddhism, incombination with existing Naruto lore and so on.

Minato and Tobirama can only use their own chakra to do the Hiranshin. The cloak is Kurama's chakra. What Minato, Naruto Shadow Kurama and Light Kurama did with the teleport was use the ability of chakra to connect people (ninshu) to send some of Minato's chakra to everyone connected to Naruto.

Matthew Marino

During that flashback right after the fist bump Hiranshin, the reason that the flashback was so significant was because everyone who was connected to them via chakra also experienced most of it.

Matthew Marino

On Hashirama's comments about Naruto by himself having almost as much chakra as he does? And then he sort of corrects himself by saying he senses the Nine Tails as well... In fact Naruto himself on his own does have pretty much the same amount of chakra as Hashirama. Carson you know why since you have seen this. The reason however that Naruto can't do as much as Hashirama is that almost all of Naruto's chakra is tied up in the seal. Even though he has it open now, its still exists providing a link between Naruto and Kurama. I can't say more without spoilers.

Matthew Marino

On why the half of Kurama looked the way it did inside Minato, this is another one of those things that gets lost in the dub. They kind of sort of explain it in small chunks to try to fit an explanation in. Minato as you know has the Yin half of Kurama inside him. Naruto has the Yang half. Yin = Shadow, Yang = Light. (Shikamaru and the Nara use the Yin chakra aspect for their jutsu for example). So Minato has the Shadow half of Kurama inside him, which was depicted there as a shadowy looking Kurama. Its also not said but that is the reason Minato sealed the Yin half within himself. The Yin half of Kurama is cunning and subtle, whereas the Yang half is angry, boisterous... has a sense of humor...ya know....kind of like a giant Uzumaki....

Matthew Marino

The Tomoya and Nagisa meeting is all in Tomoya's head. He was truly questioning if he should have met her and he finally understood that his life was amazing after meeting her. He finally accepts change. The following scene is the Tomoya moving from the timeline ushio dies in to a new timeline where Nagisa and ushio are alive. He's able to do it because of all the light orbs he's collected over all the arcs.

Johan

You're focusing on the fuko thing too much. It's a new time line so ushio and fuko haven't met yet. Ushio is probably in the forest because she plays around all over the place, probably got lost away from Tomoya and Nagisa and fell asleep. I do think the fuko scene is a little out of place. Clannad has that Eva ending feel where it's confusing on the first watch. I recommend you to watch a video by Under the scope called Clannad and deus ex machina, the truth about the girl and the robot. It explains the ending well plus he makes great content

Johan

Glad you guys enjoyed the show and your confusion is somewhat understandable as the explanation to the ending is sprinkled intermittently throughout both series. Long story short the final episode is all real. Nagissa living and the Fukko scene are all in the same “good” ending. A more in depth answer is that a linear chain of events is sort of murky to establish as the illusionary world’s time doesn’t sync up with the real world. We can start with Nagissa’s near death as a child In which Akio takes her to the forest to beg for her life. The town grants the wish and in the process imparts a piece of itself In Nagissa. This is also what causes her illness which is triggered by Winter, and change. Tomoya grants people happiness and in turn is granted a light orb which can fulfill a wish that the bearer wishes for with all their being. When Nagissa dies Tomoya has enough wishes to save her but since he regrets meeting her the town doesn’t grant his wish. Ushio gets sick and dies because the life the town imparted onto Nagissa gets transferred to Ushio which only manifests itself when her life changes after Tomoya decides to be a father. Both die but are also concurrently in the illusionary world where Ushio is basically holding Tomoya’s light orbs until he wishes with all his being to save Nagissa. Illusionary world Ushio then grants Tomoyas wish using Tomoyas light orbs. The ending scene with Fukko is the post wish world and the illusionary Ushio she sees is because Fukko is sensitive to the towns magic, having been steeped in it for so long, and because that spot is where Akio’s wish to save his daughter was granted linking Nagissa, Ushio, and the town together.

I highly recommend watching the youtube video titled "Clannad and Deus ex machina: The truth behind the girl and the robot". It explains the ending really well and will give you the closure you are missing.
