i mean she was kinda the invincibles gwen stacy she made a bigger impact via a mutual understanding breakup with mark then she did as the flat love interest. either way i think her comic verison was way better. the odd changes they throw in really weird me out like the weird shit with doc seismic and cutting out all the comic industry satire id say were pretty baked into what made invincible the series it was

I was intrigued by Cecil throughout the whole show, but when I watched this episode for the first time he easily became one of my favorite characters. At the same time, this episode probably made Amber my least favorite character, though that's definitely not a hot take lol.

Amber is the worst character.

I think it helps to look at this story through the lens of the time period in which it came out. Early 2000s Image Comics was transitioning from the edgy comics of the 90s into a broader portfolio they published around the late 2000s. Invincible was Image's big name super hero comic. Yes is does try to use comic book tropes in interesting ways, but at its core it's still a super hero story.
This version of Amber is very different than the comic version which is honestly a very flat cliche character. I applaud them for trying to modernize the character but it does fall a bit flat.
