Finally, I was able to watch this one. I'm so glad you guys liked this episode as a lot of people seem to not like it as much as the others. I do agree with what you mentioned and although Ritsu is indeed annoying for me, due to the all-over-the-top reactions etc, I don't hate him more than Kagura who imo is a lot worse to deal with but people tend to emphatize more. I like the way they did this story in the anime, changing a bit of the dated conception of cross-dressers and trans people. I also like that it is not fully defined what exactly Ritsu is and it is more up to each person's interpretation.

Oh also I saw your reply to another comment and I just want to say the reason I dislike this episode is not at all because of Ritsu's trans coding. In fact, this episode is a BIG STEP UP from the manga which was accidentally super transphobic ๐ญ. In the manga Ritsu's cross dressing is seen as a bad thing and they have to stop doing it to "grow up". Ritsu dressing like a man and filling male gender roles is treated as a coming of age thing, so I'm glad they changed that here and just focused on the over apologizing aspect.

Some of it is definitely the gender stuff not being seen as progressive to western audiences, and tbe suicide jokes, but most of the complaints seem to be about how Ritsu behaves.

Though there are a few moments I like, like Tohru on the roof talking about finding her reason to live and Ritsu and Shigures editor supporting each other

There have been times where it gets a little more progressive (Lovely Complex iykyk) but are still problematic by today's standards.

LMAO. which is also interesting cuz it feels like you disliked episode 10 more ๐ normally reactions to this episode are not super well anticipated because no one likes it, but i enjoyed your reaction and discussion! you took it in an interesting direction and rare to see! there's a lot of stuff you said that i wanna revisit by the time you get to the end of the series. thanks for making this unpopular episode entertaining and providing lots of food for thought!
