I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately thought of Johan lol. And I definitely agree with the demon stuff. As much as I love series like Demon Slayer and Re:zero and Mushoku Tensei which approach Demons in a more sympathetic light like you were saying, I love that the Frieren author is just using them as these terrifying primordial creatures like they used to be.
