What's funny is I don't remember Morgan or anyone ever mentioning that he captured Kuro, and this episode was the first time we make that connection. In the live action, they just straight up tell you.

2023-10-25 05:35:22 +0000 UTCYou know how we know the Marine that Kuro spared was Morgan? Because he has Helmeppo's butt chin XD. You guys point out how Kuro really isn't as smart as everyone says he is, but I think that's kind of the point of his character. Like, he's not dumb, but Kuro's not as smart as he thinks he is. His pride keeps making him make stupid mistakes like killing Merry or letting Usopp go. And instead of recognizing the fact that he's the one that messed up the plan, he puts the blame on other people. Heck, as Lindsey points out, if he just wanted peace of mind, he had it. The people of the village respected him, he was probably living a mildly luxurious life as head butler of Kaya's estate. But he got greedy and he couldn't stand the indignity of serving some little girl. His backstory just hammers the point home. For all his big talk about how intelligent he is and how his plans are perfect, the fact of the matter is that Kuro couldn't hack it as a pirate. He chickens out and runs away. Like, what did he think was going to happen if he became a pirate? That the Navy weren't going to go after him? That they'd give him a vacation or two inbetween assaults? For all that he looks down on Usopp, he's an even worse coward.

2023-10-24 01:32:12 +0000 UTCi figured he COULD be cut, but it depends on also the skill of the opponent. So like Zoro or Mihawk for example could do more damage to him than some random pirate with a sword. It's sort of a power scaling thing like I said, I think

2023-10-24 00:47:55 +0000 UTCI’m loving your reactions. I’m glad your enjoying the show. Also Luffy can be cut by things that are sharp no matter the speed really. But things like bullets do not affect him even if it’s fast. Only things that have a sharp edge can cut him, no matter how fast something is it can’t cut him if the edge isn’t sharp.

2023-10-24 00:41:57 +0000 UTCI admire the intricate connection between Kuro's backstory and Captain Morgan's overwhelming ego and self-centeredness. That brutal face stomp not only shattered his jaw but also undermined his noble 'I won't plead for mercy' principles. Moreover, Usopp's unwavering determination to rescue his loved ones, despite his physical limitations, is truly commendable. Additionally, a fundamental theme in One Piece is illustrated when Luffy asserts that he'll triumph because his ambition outmatches his opponent, Kuro. This highlights that strength isn't solely about physical prowess but also involves ambition, even though it's an abstract concept that can significantly impact the outcome. Unrelated, but I'm with Carson in this one, it's maybe the eyes that make Kaya feel like she belongs in Monster or some classical Drama series.
