She was just late.. One of the generals even mentioned that they’re there to “kill every elf” which was ordered by the demon king. So that throws away the theory of Flamme setting Frieren up.

You both made good points about how this episode really contributes to understanding Frieren's character in a new context, different to what most viewers probably assumed. As far as Flamme, my guess is that since she mentioned the demons also took everything from her, she was monitoring the Demon King Army's movements and trying to strike while they were already engaged in a battle/distracted. Perhaps she was just late to the one where she met Frieren.

I was wondering, was there a reason why you guys were saying the show is going to end soon? 28 episodes are scheduled for this season without any interruption apparently. I absolutely love the character of Flamme. Her love for magic starting with a seemingly very simple spell of making flowers (especially for a strong character like her) made me like her very fast.
