Natto's just kinda stinky and not visually appealing.. that being said I never met a Japanese person that doesn't eat it so I never got why she was shocked lmao its like such a staple here, all the people I've met are more shocked that I like it as a foreigner lmao. Also it's hard to spot but Motoko and Tohru have the same style of polite speaking no matter the situation (its basically ending every sentence in masu/desu) so that's what Yuki was complimenting her on

2023-11-10 14:23:00 +0000 UTCManabe and Machi are really good additions to the story. I really liked they decided to have the first episode as a Yuki-focused one. You were spot on in the discussion of the fruits of her labor thing. You see clearly Yuki's growth in this, and so Uo's and other characters, and that is at some level, influenced by Tohru (as Motoko admits to herself) which is also related to Kyoko. So it is a web of empathy and good support that expands constantly.

2023-11-10 14:07:19 +0000 UTCsomething people miss is that in the beginning of the episode Kyo calls Yuki "lame" or in some translations it's "boring" and Yuki affirms when he's walking off "i already know that". so we know Yuki sees himself as a lame or boring person. that's why he's so moved when Manabe calls him interesting later in the episode, it's the first time anyone's ever called him that. i'm really excited for y'all to get to know the student council members cuz they're some of my fav characters in the series, like top 5
