Small correction : the bartender didn't say Gold Roger used a big sword, he was referring to the guy with his skull pierced by him.

2023-11-30 00:18:12 +0000 UTCIt's very important you remember this. The R and L are oftn switched in One Piece. That's all I'll say lol.

2023-11-28 18:13:15 +0000 UTCLogue town is one of my favourite arcs. After more simple east blue it reminds you how deep the story goes

2023-11-28 01:40:11 +0000 UTCSmoker is one of my fave character design marine. Also one of my fave marine. His sense of justice kinda reminds me of Koby in live action

2023-11-27 10:11:09 +0000 UTCWell the Swordsman seller for one, the guy seems to have a academics degree in legendary blades, also a certain man with a top hat (not shown in the anime) and lastly things that have not happened yet in the arc so I won't spoil them here like "crackle crackle" kaboom!

2023-11-26 03:56:22 +0000 UTCThe intent behind it still is obviously to be a play on both: Rogue & Logue. Oda loves his wordplays iykyk

2023-11-26 02:26:31 +0000 UTCIt's mixed. That's a theory that it's meant to be Prologue/Epilogue but here's what the wiki says on it: "While always romanized Loguetown—widely held to be a reference to the English prologue and epilogue, furthering its "beginning and end" motif—in the original manga and anime, the town is renamed Roguetown in both the 4Kids-dubbed anime and the VIZ manga. This likely stems from an assumption that the original spelling was a mistaken attempt to render rogue in the first place (Japanese being notoriously unclear at differentiating 'r' and 'l' sounds), as a reference to the town's most infamous citizen. It should be noted that the katakana used to spell the name—ローグタウン—generally corresponds to the 'long' o-sound of rogue, rather than the 'short' o-sound of the -logue suffix. While the Japanese anime wavers between these pronunciations, the Funimation anime—which retains Loguetown—always favors the latter." So it's really unclear.

2023-11-26 02:11:22 +0000 UTCSince "Filler" is such a loaded word I usually use "Padding" to refer to things that are cannon but mainly serve to make space between important scenes or just add a sort of depth to the setting and isn't necessary to the over arching plot.

2023-11-26 01:13:33 +0000 UTCReminder that Oda doesn't base everything on Japanese stuff. He's very multicultural with words and theming. Loguetown is pronounced like Log Town. Like Prologue/Epilogue, town of The Beginning and The End 🔥

2023-11-26 00:50:46 +0000 UTCCarson's theories about Gold Roger are wild man haha, I love it. Bro has that observation. Let’s gooo its time to begin this grandiose adventure.

2023-11-26 00:50:43 +0000 UTCThis is making me wonder what you're referencing, especially since the entire bar scene was anime only lol

2023-11-26 00:13:46 +0000 UTCMan, how I love exposition episodes like this, and this one, in particular, is one of my favorite ones, the execution of Gold Roger and the mystic that roams around it, even animation touches like hiding his eyes and highlighting him as a granter figure than no other characters, not even the watchers/readers at this point can read his expression and what he is about. Shout out to Ask D. Question for starting the great pirate era, dude must have the highest bounty in the verse by now.

2023-11-25 23:41:46 +0000 UTCThis episode is one of the first "Lore Dump" episodes in OP. Lore episodes/chapters don't happen often, but those are what people wait for the most, even more than some of the major fights.

2023-11-25 23:33:09 +0000 UTCThere was so much forshadowing in this arc and one paticular moment was so subtle that the anime didn't pick up on it so its only inlcluded in the manga. Of course this is a story that you could never have realized at the time. But yeah this is where oda really starts to understand his story and things are more planned out, cheorgraphed as opposed to just being random. The marines/navy seems to have more of an identity in the story, rather then to just be used for comedic relief and for gags.

2023-11-25 22:09:07 +0000 UTCAh yes the episode we get to see the most important character in all of one piece... Ask D. Question. Without him asking about where rogers treasure was the great pirate era would have never happened.

2023-11-25 21:28:57 +0000 UTCInitial D is my second fave anime

2023-11-25 20:26:15 +0000 UTCGuys, I'm pretty sure that the dude that used a huge sword was the dude that Roger killed, not Roger himself. That's what they said in the episode lol

2023-11-25 19:09:01 +0000 UTCthe guy on Shank's crew in the op you're wondering about was in the LA but they did him dirty with the casting💀 Smoke guy was also the one in the LA's post-credit scene

2023-11-25 18:19:43 +0000 UTCGreat reaction I especially loved the discussion comparing the scene of Gold Roger’s execution in the Live Action to the anime, the Live Action version added a ton of characters from later on in the series to the execution scene pretty much as easter eggs, but I also prefer the anime version. Oda is very good at foreshadowing because of his style of writing. He leaves tons of stuff vague so he can fill in the information later on and have it not contradict canon, but it’s also concrete enough that it doesn’t feel like things don’t make sense or that the world is inconsistent. Also about the opening, the song is Believe by Folder5, but it’s actually a Japanese cover of a Eurobeat song. The original song’s a cover of Dreaming of You by Lolita

2023-11-25 17:55:00 +0000 UTCIn regards to the comments below that opening spoiler guide, it was just people discussing if it's a viable thing to do to hold of some of the openings on that list just to avoid some minor spoilers in there. For the next like 200eps though, you just need to worry about op3&5 (with op2&4 being completely safe), since people unanimously agree to not watch op3&5 before you reach a certain episode count. Also, Logue Town as in prologue/epilogue, since it's known as the Town of the Beginning and End. The journey finally begins😭
