2023-12-12 19:13:29 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite things about one piece is that in being very classic and holding to form it eventually becomes unique. “The subversion of narrative” or “challenging the medium” has become so common in modern times that it’s actually become its own genre in and of itself and it often feels very disingenuous as writers step into a genre with the sole intent of subverting it and not holding to there initial prompt. One piece proudly holds to its initial prompt even decades later it’s ridiculous but it can take its own ridiculousness seriously if that makes any sense? Instead of self consciously tearing itself down all the time.

2023-12-07 08:43:09 +0000 UTC*SPOILERS* Me and my buds imagined the whole crew as D&D classes, Luffy is the Barb, Zoro is the Fighter, Ussop is the Ranger, Sanji is the Paladin, Nami is the Rogue, Chopper is the Druid/Cleric, Robin's a Warlock, Franky is the Artificer, Brook is obviously the Bard, and Jinbe is the Monk. Theres literally over 100 moments through the series of Luffy activating his rage, Zoro's looking to be the greatest fighter, Ussop has some high charisma for a ranger, Sanji's oaths cause problems through the series while also keeping people healthy, Nami technically multiclasses into Wizard, Chopper is an animal who's druid transformation is human while also being the team healer, Robin has some eldritch knowledge and funny enough some high level Warlock stuff matches some of the unique stuff she uses with her powers later on. I think at some point they even call Brook a bard in the series, and Jinbe does Karate. *SPOILERS*

I hate when stories end like that." Your thoughts on what the One Piece could be will change a lot after over the course of the next couple of sagas. It's gonna be super fun to see how your predictions change over time

2023-12-06 09:04:17 +0000 UTCI only saw one person on the internet who was sad that Pearl wasn't in the live action. They made a post on reddit about it and argued with EVERYONE. EVERY SINGLE REPLY.. They were very dedicated and said Pearl was one of their favourite characters and I don't think they were trolling. I don't think anyone likes Pearl lol, and I agree with your take on it. He doesn't feel like a real character. He was just a tool to add more chaos. I always skip his shit as much as possible when reactors start the series. And the stuff with Don Krieg definitely went for 1-2 episodes too long.

For instance I'm in that category, I don't particularly watch reactions usually and the main reason I started watching yours was because I was in the moment interested in the newer OP audience and reception of the show from people who aren't familiar with the world and chars. I stuck around because I liked your constructive criticism and figured it would be interesting to watch how you approached the anime next. How you as part of this new audience approached the original/older material (books & anime).

THAT would be climatic finale for a season because it will put an ending to the east blue story well also setting up things for the larger world of OP in a way that I think LA viewers would be even more engaged and curious as to what happens next.

2023-12-02 08:32:21 +0000 UTCtbf hearing someone new to One Piece speculate about the show when you're a long-time fan is like being a seasoned chef in a gourmet kitchen, overhearing the intern trying to make a complex dish with only half the recipe. You want to jump in with all your culinary secrets, spices, and techniques to guide them to the perfect flavor. But you know that part of the journey is letting them taste a few half-baked ideas, such as thinking the One Piece is actually friendship, even though it has been clearly built up to be Buggy's balls... Can't wait for y'all to start the next saga tho! Still one of my favs to this day
