There are things in oda's world that just pop up and feel so nonsensical at the time of viewing it because you have no context of the greater world and fans way back then used tell me that these types of events or lore pieces will never be talked about again and low and behold here we are, jokes on them. Because oda's world is just ever evolving and everything in that world has meaning for its existence. I think most readers/viewers at this late stage understand that now but there was a time when we were all pretty stupid lol. You know typical shonen fandom of a bunch of tweens and young teens just enjoying the action not ever seeing past any of oda's subtetly or forshadowing. I think that is perhaps what makes this generation more interesting is alot of these outside perspective's (new OP fans) are thinking of stuff or theorizing things that would never even come to our mind way back then but now it makes sence us long time fans and its kind of mind blowing.
