Shin’s age in this cour is 16-17. He was 10 when he was first scripted to fight against the Legion in the Republic. Funnily enough, Lena’s a year older than Shin. With Frederica, she’s very much a child. But mentally, she’s very mature for her age because of her esper ability to be able to see a persons past and present. Hence why she feels responsible for the Legion invasion even if she’s more of a victim because of her lineages past actions.
