2023-12-25 18:20:10 +0000 UTCI think if they do a 10 episode season they could do it but they'd have to cut Little Garden out like they did Don Krieg which isn't too big of a loss. There's quite a bit of fat here.

2023-12-24 01:37:55 +0000 UTCoh 100% in agreement, The US is clearly the prime suspect here on the commentary. BUT the way i see it is its not that it's the safe route for "political" reasons but that it detracts from the story imo. its sorta like a dated reference in a movie, sorta takes you outta it? Gotta pull out your phone and google and its just a pain

2023-12-23 22:50:54 +0000 UTCThe US is pretty much the prime example of privatized healthcare/insurance being complete garbage unless you're rich. Im not going to pretend i know 100% for sure that this is critiquing the US healthcare system, but i'd be surprised if it wasn't. (Though im sure if asked in an interview, Oda would probably go the safe route and just say it's based on privatized healthcare in general to avoid any drama)

2023-12-23 19:42:12 +0000 UTCIt’s pretty much confirmed at this point that she will be cast as that character for Season 2. Although I do hope S2 focuses on adapting material up to the drum kingdom island arc. If they have to cram the entire alabasta in like an 8 ep run, the live action will be heavily condensed. Alabasta is a big story which will need an increased budget. A whole season by itself or at the very least, half of a season if it’s a 16 EP season but 8 episodes bare minimum.

2023-12-23 19:05:59 +0000 UTCI would say its more specifically about privatized health care than the US specifically

2023-12-23 17:37:27 +0000 UTCit makes sense for the show and it makes sense for marketing. Im excited for season 2!

2023-12-23 17:23:42 +0000 UTCYeah. The casting people contacted her Agent so its only a matter of time

2023-12-23 16:47:17 +0000 UTCOne piece dives into some very serious topics and Oda does tend to write about both eastern and western problems

2023-12-23 16:36:22 +0000 UTCIt’s not a want it’s happening. They will not cast anyone else. Jamie Curtis has wanted this role for so long that I wouldn’t be surprised if she took minimum for it (they would pay her well regardless)

2023-12-23 16:34:51 +0000 UTCTbf the parallels of lack of access & Kureha charging abnormally high prices still work. When it comes to Wapol though, all I see is a reasonable entrepreneur and businessman...just give him some time. Easily the best villain in the entirety of One Piece.

2023-12-23 16:24:32 +0000 UTCAnother great reaction, and also in case you were wondering Dr Kureha, is that character that tons of fans have been wanting Jaime Lee Curtis to play in season 2.

2023-12-23 16:14:05 +0000 UTCThe direct route is too easy, even when getting around he looks for a challenge.

2023-12-23 14:17:45 +0000 UTCI don’t really think this is a critique of American healthcare. Getting rid of all the private doctors and being forced to use the government owned doctors is the opposite problem we have. In America it’s the private companies that cause healthcare to be so unaffordable for a lot of people. This is what people who don’t like public healthcare think is gonna happen if we get rid of private healthcare, they think the governments gonna ban private healthcare and then use the lack of competition to do whatever they want.

2023-12-23 13:58:37 +0000 UTCiirc that scene of him getting lost and running into Kureha was anime only but it's perfect lmao
klairvoyance
2023-12-23 12:28:58 +0000 UTCI mean it's important to speak up on serious problems like that.

2023-12-23 11:01:06 +0000 UTCI find the tension in this arc quite captivating. It's not driven by a formidable adversary or anything like that; instead, it stems from an unfortunate situation where everything seems to favor a relatively feeble antagonist. The commentary on the medical care system was very loud in this episode. Especially by having Wapol cartoonishly evil as he schemes around how to exploit it for his benefit. Zoro's notorious lack of direction becomes particularly prominent here. For those veteran OP fans, the carpenter is just there fixing the cabin's door, LMAO.

2023-12-23 11:00:24 +0000 UTCHow the hell does Zoro get lost? A question for the ages...

2023-12-23 10:54:44 +0000 UTCPlease stop talking about the U.S. Healthcare system. It makes me depressed enough that the anime is basically pointing a cartoonishly large arrow at us.
