After Nanohana he doubted the idealistic things the king told him before because he apparently just turned around and committed an atrocity like that the very next day. So Chaka couldn't figure out the king's intentions and what he would have wanted to be done in his absence. Chaka's not a bad guy per se but he's solidly a lawful neutral soldier who follows orders, and is loyal enough to even follow bad ones because he believes in king and order and hierarchy. But when Vivi reiterates what Cobra said about the people of the country he realizes that to have been instilled with these beliefs the king must have really been earnest and is now free from doubt.

2024-01-24 23:00:56 +0000 UTCRemember he beat Usopp first and the camel in 2 seconds, 1 second for each. Before finding Vivi after which Vivi realized it wasn't actually Usopp and Karoo saved her. It's assumed that he took his goggles when he beat Usopp. Also gotta admit, there's tons of bs in one piece fights. Love the show to bits and it's charming with the art style and exaggerations, but Usopp has gotta be the tankiest person on the planet.

2024-01-24 22:27:41 +0000 UTCI don't think Chaka entirely forgot the conversation it's more that he sees the king's spirit/intentions reflected in Vivi and casts away the doubt he had before. The Anime just tends to draw out long flashbacks to pad out the episodes and remind the viewer of something that was supposed to have happened a few weeks ago, which makes it look like the characters have a bad case of amnesia sometimes.
