The fact that he hasn't said anything important about Robin's situation since he got thrown out is because he really doesn't think much about it, or he is just so lost to the point he doesn't know what to think at the moment. He is juggling too many balls at the same time, between this, Usopp leaving, Merry's fate, and so on. Only when he got the pep talk from Nami did he manage to set all of his other concerns and focus on getting Robin back at the moment, since now he has an answer to WHY Robin is doing all of this. By the way, about the tides, Long Ring Long Land is just in the vicinity of Water 7, and it too had a special case of severe tide changes, allowing the people to travel on foot in between the islands. And even prior to that, we had the knock-up stream in Jaya, and the scarcity of rain in Alabasta.
