Rune God Rayearth Process

i start with a quick pose doodle (most of the time) in 1 layer, then i add a new layer for a quic, more refined sketch,.
after that i start the linework in another layer and also do some fixes to the overall idea, then i make a layer for each one of the main colors.
once the flats are done, i add a clipping layer on top of each flat color layer for the lights and shadows, and ocassionally i add another layer for special FX.
once done with the drawing, i add a gradient overlaying layer on top to add some emphassis to lights and shadows.
For the last step, i add the background. most of the times i goolge for one image and change its color, saturation and blur. other times (like this one) i search for several images and use photoshop to merge and edit them into a single background image.
