Most people recognise Rocky Horror picture show, for sure, but you can include "Cabaret" too (you could even compare Bon Chan's makeup and hairdo with Liza Minelli's in the movie if you look at it closely). It makes sense since Cabaret is set during the Weimar era in Germany (and the Impel down uniforms also have clear inspiration from Germans during the war era). It makes sense to use this musical/movie as a reference for a safe haven in a place of (rising) danger, where the LGBT community is able to just "be".

2025-01-07 08:56:56 +0000 UTCWhen I first watched One Piece and knowing well that it is a Shonen I never thought there would be any Queer representation in the show. But I absolutely love that they did so well and actually had the balls to add so much openly Queer representation in One Piece. Most Shonen don’t have any or if they do it’s just as a joke or just a random side character with maybe little backstory. But I think they did so well in the show and actually writing openly queer characters that have depth and that are also apart of the main story.
