Some of the things that surprised you guys this episode have more to do with you guys not knowing some of the more detailed rules of soccer, im assuming. This wasnt the case 15 years ago, more or less, but removing your shirt for a celebration wasnt an instant yellow card before, but nowadays and during the time period Blue Lock takes place in, around 2018/2019, that is indeed the case. A more interesting detail though, is Sae's light tackle that he does on Isagi and puts him off balance, is something that from what ive noticed, most of the people that will apreciate it are people that have played soccer themselves. In a high pressure situation like that, a 1 on 1 in front of goal when you're defending, especially inside the box, having the presence of mind and cold outlook on the game to risk a tackle like that and execute it perfectly, is fucking insane honestly. In a situation inside the box, since the slightest amount of contact can lead to a penalty if you're not careful as a defender, you tend to become a bit overly caucious and can end up conceding a bit too much space to the attacker, which can lead to an easy goal. Shoulder to shoulder contact, and other forms of contact in soccer, as long as you arent directly pushing people away with your hands for example, are mostly allowed and fair game, its a contact sport for a reason, but being level headed enough to go for that shoulder to shoulder inside the box and not overly commit is just great fucking defending on Sae's end, especially since he knows and we know Isagi's strongpoint isnt his physicality, so a smart player like Sae can kill Isagi's direct shot very easily if they are making direct contact. When i first read this moment in the manga, after season 1 ended, i geaked out so much over it.
