In fact, she's so convinced that he IS one she pities him for it and doesn't believe it'll deter him to kick him where the sun don't shine. She could also convince herself that due to Ah-Duo losing her uterus 17 years ago and Jinshi not having his genitalia causes them to look more androgynous as they age!

(The punish one, punish all rule) I don't think the period of the show can be seen as one of legalism, but the city definitely takes inspiration from older architecture in our world

And yeah you got that right, the family that maomao got sold off under (who is registered as her family on her paperwork, which Jinshi knows to be incorrect) is related to Fenming (either through blood or as business partners)

But I also think I agree with Lindsey that she just doesn't want to get mixed up in court politics any more than she needs to. There are trains of thought that exist that are begging to be finished but if she finished them there is no going back. Figuring out the biggest secret in the empire is a good way to get yourself killed.

The thought about potential Ah-Duo and Jinshi cloth swap only pushed an idea about children swap, but she hasn’t any evidence that he is “younger brother”, only we as viewers have them. About the baby swap, remember that she has no evidences about it, that's why she doent think it as the truth. And a detail, i'm not sure because english is not my first language but in french, courtesans and prostitute are not the same things, it's sex work but courtesans usually are vigins ( because all the bullshit about purity).
