Shanks is at least as strong or stronger then BB. Ben Beckmann is said to be almost equal to shanks. Rayleigh himself said todays BB would wipe the floor with him. So Benn Beckmann is atleast around old Rayleigh level or higher :) Think smart not hard

I think that’s kind of the same thing though. The idea is that they were more worried about killing pirates that were already defeated and running away than they were about saving their own men. In the sense that they had wounded soldiers that needed immediate aid and that chasing down the pirates would guarantee more casualties on the marine side and pirate side.

It’s possible he legit thinks Beckmann has the drop on him. Even if we don’t know a ton about him, he’s Shanks’ first mate, so I’d assume he’s pretty powerful. In theory Kizaru should be able to dip on pretty much anyone but we saw Rayleigh holding him in check in Sabaody

Regarding the whole thing of Blackbeard's mastery and Whitebeard's mastery of the devil fruit. I think the destructive power that Blackbeard and Whitebeard were showing is just pretty much base line of the devil fruit itself. They state that Whitebeard has the power to destroy the world. Despite that, we never see him acting planet busting power out. Still amazing strong attacks, but never anything at that level. My whole interpretation is that this fruit really is just from the beginning as strong as you have seen, but can't really be used to focus the whole potential it has on just someone. I think Whitebeard, unlike Blackbeard, really could've done attacks much more devastating, but he didn't want to do so, because, even though you always say that joke with "distinguish neither friend nor foe", and said it for Whitebeard also, he always held back his attacks as much as he could in order to not have casualties on his side, but in theory, he probably could've destroyed the whole Marineford and killed everyone, including himself in the process, but he didn't want that. Blackbeard on the other hand, can't right now reach those heights. Whitebeard choose not to. I don't think their masteries over the devil fruit are at a similar level or that Whitebeard is at the same level now because of his age. This is Blackbeard's best right now, while this was the best Whitebeard felt like he could do without hurting his own men.

I LOVE the fodder marine perspective in this episode. THEY are the ones who are actually being affected by this war. As mentioned in the previous post, the 7 Warlords and Admirals (besides Akainu) were there for fun or by orders. They did not break a sweat at all in this war. Their relative lack of presence for multiple episodes now, and this episode in particular, is Oda highlighting that the war really affected the common soldier. Another example of Oda combining story and character with powerscaling. In my opinion, it goes beyond just "vibes". Well done Oda👏🏽

i fixed it. Just realized it was actually a report by the marines. It was a very small scene but still had alot of immportance behind the reason shanks arrived at the marine head quarters.

Shanks showing up for sure probably wasn't in your bingo card but if you remember, during impel down, the marines got a report that shanks intercepted kaido who was on his way to kill whitebeard. Instead they must of got into some kind of alteraction and shanks arrived at marinford instead of kaido.
