I think Carson's comment about Luffy unlocking gear 4th and beating the admirals was more of a comment because Luffy has been loosing all this time, in Sabody, in Impel down. Like you said this is a testament to Oda's writing. I just think Carson was just thinking that after Luffy failing this many times, he would unlock something that would allow him to fight the admirals because he's see it in other Shonen.

If you look in the discord and check the pinned comment in the one piece chat you can see everything that was recommended by the mods. Movie 4 is on there but that does not mean they will watch it. It’s a list full of a ton of stuff and they are the ones who will pick what they want to watch

There’s a One piece Movie/Ova called One Piece Fan Letter. That movie is based on some things that happen in MarineFord and things around episodes 517-523. So I recommend to only check that out after watching episode 523. Watching it before might give away some small spoilers. So just make sure to watch it any time after episode 523.

Focusing on things that are too specific This comment IS: 3. A reflection of Oda's writing during this saga and OP as a whole up to this point 4. My own opinion and interpretation Let us begin..🙏🏽 Carson, from previously, I disagree with your take on Oda's writing style on strength as being a guessing game for the story up to this point for the characters present at Marineford. Instead, I believe that Oda uses it as a writing style when guessing the "relative" strength between strong individuals. Because we should already know what characters represent pillars of strength.🤷🏾‍♂️ During your reactions, you were uncertain whether Luffy or other characters could take on an Admiral. This should have never been the case. The Admirals are powerhouses, no questions asked. It seemed disingenuous to, for example, have said Luffy would unlock Gear 4 to beat the 3 Admirals during episode 475🤷🏾‍♂️ During one of the best arcs so far, Sabaody, you would have seen that there are times when strength is clear and there is no ambiguity🤷🏾‍♂️ Kizaru completely destroys the Super Rookies and our crew, causing us to suffer utter defeat and get split up which still hasn't been resolved at this point. Also, Shakky says that Rayleigh is 100x stronger than the Super Rookies and clashes with Kizaru. The question of an Admiral's strength is answered here. The strength of an Admiral going all-out is also answered through Akainu, who single handedly did most of the damage to Whitebeard and his forces🤷🏾‍♂️ Even Aokiji, who Luffy and his crew lost to and was the major motivation for Luffy learning Gear 2. Once again, the Admirals are powerhouses, no questions asked.🤷🏾‍♂️ For the current Warlords at Marineford besides Moria (Mihawk, Doflamingo, Kuma, Boa Hancock) we know they are all powerhouses. All of them were laid back during this war, therefore we do not know the strength disparities between them and cannot assume that there is that much, at this point in the story, (apart from that Moria is the weakest😂) Now there are some characters who we don't know the strength of at all at this point (Gorosei, Yonko etc.), but as your point was referring to the characters during the Marineford war, I can say that this explanation of Oda's writing style of strength being a "guessing game" has not been the case, in my opinion👍🏽

It would still be possible for their theory to work if she was crying about the fact that Ace was about to be executed. But the fact that you said that and implied some other things makes you the one that uses future events. Do you see what I mean? With my comment, their theory was still possible, I was just correcting the timeline of things (not really a theory if you're based on wrong info/misremembering), while you with your answers hinted at future events. That's what I don't understand. If they had just read my comment, they would've just seen it as that, a correction, not a shutdown of their theory, but you reacted that way *because* you had future knowledge. By telling them '' it's not 'this' '' you're already giving them informations they can't have yet. You have the hindsight of watching +700 episodes, knowing some of this stuff. They don't. If we went back in time when this arc released any theory at that point is still as valid. There's no need to guide their thought process, just let them figure it out for themselves in a timely manner.

Symbolism wise, one interpretation for Law's sword I've heard of could be related to the way samurais used to stick their weapons to commemorate the dead. And Law stood his next to Luffy in hommage to Ace. I can't find sources confirming it is actually that custom, but it's a detail that always stood out to me.

I've always felt like the sword being next to Luffy is also to show that Law trusts him. If you saw someone as a real enemy you wouldn't leave your weapon sitting next to them unattended., even if they are injured.
