2024-07-22 05:47:08 +0000 UTCthere is some things you misunderstood about the ancient weapon and the ancient history. in the ohara flashback clover mentioned that the ancient weapon is just an excuse to wipe out ohara and that what they fear is people finding out about that void century. its pretty complicated and more info missing but its not all about the ancient weapon itself

My understanding is that there was previously a scene shortly after Spandam's introduction where Spandam persuaded the Five Elders that the government ought to take control of the means to utilize Pluton, in order to actually use the weapon to definitively end the Great Pirate Era. I suppose the Elders didn't expressly communicate their intent to use the weapon, but they did give Spandam the authority to carry out this operation, which likely implies their alignment with Spandam's goal. In other words, their intent historically has been to prevent anyone from being able to use the weapon (e.g. the Ohara incident), but they recently changed their mind and decided to try and use the weapon themselves. Let me know if there's something I'm missing here, though.
