One Piece Episode 298 UNCUT REACTION!

Comments

Lets just say this Leg thing will be explaned much later

Jack Shadow

I forgot his dialogue here so I was expecting "God creates food... I cook it" xD

Jambron

@ Matthew Gilroy I'll admit I may have gotten then nomenclature wrong, maybe it didn't "blow up" during Enies Lobby but it certainly started its rise during this arc. We can disagree about the tone of the different arcs, that's fine. However, I don't appreciate the way you seem to come at every comment you disagree with with such distain though. All I did here was propose my thoughts and you seem to have taken it as an affront to your very existence. @ Klairvoyage I think this arc has a lot to like about it, be it the powerups each character gets during their fights or the fact that it concludes what was set up really well in Water 7. I don't think either Water 7 or Enies Lobby are as good as they are together, alone and I think a lot of people refer to the combination of these two arcs as "Enies Lobby" which may be where the hype confusion comes from. I also probably wouldn't put it in my top 10 but I do still think its a great combo of arcs.

ChocoBoshi

that fake flashback was really funny

Fabulous

glad you guys were able to laugh at the dude's story & enjoy the last bit of the fight tho'

Yagi di Hoshi

Long time fans always say that take everything in and don’t judge until the Arc/Saga is done. Fights in One piece is not the best compared to the Big Three but the narrative is incomparable. Oda don’t force feed everything at once. He believes in delayed gratification πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

CypressxSG

fuck jobber-ruh, all my homies hate jabra. legosi beastars solos. heck welfin solos. i hope he is able to join up with gon & killua's side

Yagi di Hoshi

Sanji’s a cook, he can take the HEAT

CypressxSG

Its a pity that Sogeking is wearing a red robe

CypressxSG

Don't forget Sogeking replacing Usopp in the crew! That's another powerup, Sogeking with his Kabuto

πŸ’― OP is already this weird shonen, which is beloved for literally everything else but its fights, though they get better from here on out imo. So the adaptation's execution of them, in times where it is forced to a slower pacing, just further adds to their problems (well, except this past year – we have been eating good icl). At the end of the day tho, it is only this medium that they are watching and can base their judgements onπŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ But boy can't I wait for the next 200eps

klairvoyage

One thing about your enjoyment of the story is that reading the manga makes it so much easier to accept some things. For instance, many instances of "Why aren't they helping their allies" can be explained when you don't have to hear characters monologing sequentially and can just assume that everything takes place simultaneously. I'm watching the anime for the first time with you while re-reading them manga in parallel and I'm quite sure I could never have gotten into OP if I had started with the anime.

I actually always have been confused about the Enies Lobby hype (as an anime-only) with quite a lot of people considering it their favorite arc & this rewatch just reinforced that opinion. I love Water 7, however Enies Lobby I wouldn't even put in my top 15 (out of the currently 32 arcs)

klairvoyage

If you noticed up to this point a lot of Sanji's attacks and fights have had a focus on spinning, he spins a lot. PS Glad he got that Kalifa bath water for free. Nothing but W's for my boy

Tate Wheatley

Yeah. It wasn't like it was a one-sided fight. Both Jabra and Sanji were getting solid hits in throughout the fight. And whenever their attacks actually clashed it was usually Jabra's attack that overpowered Sanji. I think people are thrown off by Jabra's deceitful nature into thinking he is weak when all throughout the arc he has clearly been shown to be on Kaku's level

Adam Vialpando

@ChocoBoshi I think you misunderstood the above comment. Enies Lobby appealed to new readers because it was more shouneny, not because of a "more serious tonal shift". It is a fact (and more clear on the rewatch) that Alabasta / Skypeia actually have a more serious tone. Also, what is this Revisionist history that OP blew up during this arcs release. It only started to blow up a few years later

Matthew Gilroy

WAAANNNJJIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII This arc was the Sasuke Retrieval equivalence in my eyes, aside from the rescue plot, everyone getting powerups and I love it. After all, fighting in the judicial lobby of the world government is already past the status of rookies. Love Diable Jambe for Sanji, it's so cool looking and sounding man. Also love how Jabra was dubbing everyone in his barely coherent flashback.

EOussama

I never said that either Alabasta or Skypeia weren't thrilling. I was only talking about the overall tone. I asserted that the reason the show may have blown up during this arc's release was because it appealed to a wide variety of readers/viewers because of the tonal shift.

ChocoBoshi

I maybe in the minority but Ennies lobby to me was not near as thrilling as alabasta imo. The circumstances, the story, the stakes were all so much higher with a far more interesting villian with both robin and ace first introduced and a full scale civil war taking place. But I think when we look at this arc, we have to include water 7 and post story as well. All that together, it has some pretty big high points that I think surpass previous arcs. Water 7 being more of the mystery/detective type story and ennies lobby just being an action oriented climax. Thier is some slower parts and with more generic shonen tropes along with some of the best moments the series has to offer so it will be interesting to see how they rate this saga.

Artemis

Skypeia and Alabasta were absolutely more jokey than Enies Lobby. They have more serious themes than other arcs sure but their tone and level of focus don't come close to that of Enies Lobby's.

ChocoBoshi

The best CP9 fightπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯. Also, the nerfing issue is the least accentuated with Jabra imo (he was using the six powers very well, it's just that Sanji is strong. Don't down play Sanji Carson). That's why it's my favourite fight, as well as it isn't dragged out like the Nami fight.

Matthew Gilroy

Alabasta and Skypeia was compelling with a serious tone. What are you talking about?

Matthew Gilroy

Ahh the reveal of Diable Jambe Never disappoints Fun fact You can notice back in Sanji's fight against Wanze that Wanze used Rollers to attack And he spin his wheels fast enough to create fire You can see Sanji noticing it even And here he applied the same principe to start the ignition of his leg. Just like Luffy he's learning through his fights with Cipher Pol and with his insanely strong legs, the spin was all he needed

Sanji Joestar

I think the reason a more general audience vibes with Enies Lobby so much is because One Piece up to this point feels like a jokey anime punctuated by the occasional cool moment, whereas Enies Lobby feels like a cool and compelling story punctuated by jokey and goofey moments. Also with the Namek reference. Frieza's SECOND form had a power level of over 1 million. So by his 4th form power levels are so far out the window that its insane.
