I loved this episode. Toph learning metal bending gives me chills each time I watch it. The timing of her new power and the guru explaining the flowing of the chakras made it all that much powerful

This book finale always felt very similar to star wars episode 5 the empire strikes back. Luke and Aang reveicing training, choosing to abandon it to help their friends, fighting an enemy they weren’t ready for, and the bad guys coming out on top as the end. But one thing is opposite, Luke is too old to begin the training, Aang is too young. I know they’ve both been sheltered a lot from the outside world, but still, Aang doesn’t have the life experience to deal with saving the world at such a young age, and Luke has had too much experience with life, by jedi standards, to dedicate himself to saving the galaxy, but they both have to be selfless, and put their the greater good before their friends, which they both choose not to, and also choose to defeat their final enemy in an unconventional way, which is what makes them both such great characters. Though I love Luke’s final battle more, as didn’t just get the avatar state, and was unstoppable, he chose to be passive, and to rely on somebody else to save him, instead of finishing the job himself, even though Aang did it in a peaceful way, this was still cause of kid show limitations, and also being to merciful to someone who clearly deserved death, like the emperor did. Vader did too, but he was manipulated, like Azula, and he was much stronger than Luke, and lost to him on purpose, so Luke wouldn’t have defeated both anyway. And Aang opening the chakras always felt way too quick and easy to me. Why I love streaming compared to TV, you can make the episodes as long as you want, to not rush anything, but still keep the pacing going. Book 2 could’ve needed 1 or 2 more episodes, imo.

Nikolai Stoykov .

You're right. Also there is the parallel of Luke leaving Dagobah without having completed his training because he has vision of his friends being in danger. Just like Aang did have a vision of Katara being held captive by Azula. Now the more I think about it the more I see these parallels. Some might be intentional, some probably unintentional.

Aang leaving the Guru is just like Luke leaving Yoda too!

Yoooo, The conclusion to Luffy vs Lucci and an Avatar double feature? lets gooo The detail of having a wound on Aang's foot for the lightnings exit path is so good.

I love this finale so much. I underline everything you guys said about what you liked about it and I also wanna add that the creators once said that this was kind of their "The Empire Strikes Back" moment where at the end of the episode all the main characters are at their lowest point. So you have a good starting point for the overall series finale in the third season. I gotta say I love that they were this bold and went this far for a show on freaking Nickelodeon.
