One Piece Episode 315 UNCUT REACTION!

Comments

nah. I won't come back

CypressxSG

Just please stop. Boldcast have said many times they don’t want these type of comments at all

Ty

Whatever you say man 🤷🏻‍♀️😮‍💨

CypressxSG

Your comments are straight up spoilers. And yes alluding to things is spoiling. I’m just warning you that you will probably get banned if you keep it up. Why be so weird?

Ty

Alluding and spoiling is diff.

CypressxSG

ok now you are just straight up spoiling stuff. Why are you trying to get banned?

Ty

@Ty I will join again when they are at the eps where the Bear 🐻 man appears

CypressxSG

Hello friend, There are 2 comments by you in this thread alluding to things in the future. These kind of comments are spoilers! However if you join the Boldcast Discord there are one piece spoiler channels where you can talk to a bunch of people all about one piece. I know you probably did not mean to but you are writing down huge spoilers in this thread. Please Join the discord and have fun talking about one piece

Ty

He also said that he wants to have a big after the arc party and if most of them are dead, he can't have that

Gino

@Cypress08, are those not just major spoilers?

ChocoBoshi

@Extra Crispy This is another example of why One piece is BIG. We have so many chapters or even a whole Arc now where Oda had the gall/confidence 😂 to leave the straw hat behind and focus on the side characters. Even in the latest Anime episodes airing now, we wont be seeing the crew for MONTHS 😂 Even after Water 7 saga we are getting closer to explain why Oda is introducing so many characters that can or maybe not (it depends on the person) justify why Oda does not like killing characters. He once said that killing a character is wasteful when he can use that character to explore some themes that he could not do with the main Crew

CypressxSG

@Super Novice I'm not saying that this is a particular thing with One Piece, but I am saying that despite the breadth and expansive size of One piece's world, the restriction still applies, and that same restriction can be more crippling the larger the scope of your project is. So it's a difficult thing to manage for any complex narrative, but it becomes more and more cumbersome the larger the thing becomes is what I'm saying

BOLDcast

your completely correct I'm a aspiring author myself and this is something you just have to accept when your writing a story. even if you had infinite time and infinite pages you cant be in two places at once at the same time; running multiple perspectives or using flashbacks is usually how you get around this but those can become super cumbersome and completely ruin your pacing if you do them too much. most of the time you just have to let some things go so the story can keep going. like in this case if we just stopped to have 20 more episodes focused on Aokiji so we could flush him out and make his reasoning feel less like convenience it would kill the overall pacing of the story dead; the straw hats would be doing nothing waiting for the story arc to end so they could actually keep moving on with the main plot.

Extra Crispy

Your point about the page is the same for all manga, but One piece is long enough to remedy missed opportunities through later exploration. It’s the beauty of the saga.

Super Novice

316

klairvoyage

Exactly! One Piece thrives on retroactive characterization, and for good reason, like Carson said. There is only so much room to explore characters within a single chapter or arc. But that is exactly where this series takes advantage of its massive length to weave in deeper context over time. I can't even fully join in on the anime spoilers chat on Discord right now, because the anime is still catching up to some of the new developments in the manga, that are pertinent to this reaction's discussion😂

klairvoyage

My comment was meant to imply that there will be characters outside of the crew that will be explored psychologically and morally. For example GARP and AOKIJI (his is still ongoing and he is going thru something right now). I think thats a great use of 1100+ chapters

CypressxSG

It’s not really an issue of chapters, it’s page size. You can only focus on one thing at a time, and often with storytelling you can miss the opportunity to explore something if you don’t do it at the right time. It doesn’t matter how long a series is if you can’t be at two places at once. The story can only ever be about one thing at a time and often that ‘thing’ has the be the character of the arc or Luffy. It’s inherently more restricting than any story can manage. It’s a natural restriction of storytelling is what I’m saying

BOLDcast

Lmao I meant like there’s only so much space on a sheet of paper for words and characters Not exactly length of the entire story But I guess in the end it’s the same thing

BOLDcast

You’ll see a lot of morality conflict it’s the navy. Your only on episode 315/316 you have a lot more to go. This show is a saga. You will see these characters again.

Super Novice

Psychology of the side characters? There is a reason why One Piece has 1100+ chapters. No need to head cannon

CypressxSG

I agree.

CypressxSG

Absolutely right

CypressxSG

I see One Piece as the kind of story that invites you to take a holistic view of its themes and messages, rather than focusing too much on individual character's psychology and logical decisions. By no means am I saying those details aren't important, rather I mean that each arc always has clear themes. The plot decisions and character interactions, while as emotional and characteristic as they are, majorly function as a medium to manifest those messages. So we might notice some similarities between and within arcs, and could then generalize them so that in hindsight we realize: "Oh, that arrangement actually matches this arc's themes" "Oh that's a mirror/contrast to certain characters/arcs" "Oh, that's actually consistent with the 3 themes declared in Loguetown, Inherited Will, People's Dream, The Ebb and Flow of the Era" Even back in the Orange Town there is a clear theme in this little arc: "What is Treasure?", and then 3 different point of views are explored here. Then see Syrup Village, "Does a Lie Really Hurt? Whom? How?" As well as in Sky Island arc, there are those like "What is God?" , "Voice" and "People's Dream / Romance" etc. Though it's not always incredibly deep, it does always try to explore them through clashes of perspectives/ideologies, wrapped in a seemingly goofy, happy-go-lucky exterior, that much is consistent. I see it Oda uses Koby here partly to convey that message as well, "The world is big, only by experiencing through different perspectives can you view things differently and then grow", he met Luffy, he changed, and now thinks differently, probably for the better. In the end, it works kinda like odyssey version of fable or parable, except its messages are interconnected.

Guy Buddy

That was like 2 days ago.

Adam Vialpando

garp was the biggest down for me in the live action. i still enjoyed him but manga garp and his personality and everything thats gonna come up takes the cake

Baronizer

Did we miss 314 or...?

Briana Roop

thought it was said that Aokiji got the water 7 residents off the hook? I'm pretty sure Robin or someone comments on it? maybe that was manga only

Skele

Awesome that you guys seem to be getting back to the groove and uploading on schedule? This is awesome...just don't bulk upload so you guys have buffer...personally speaking i like this upload schedule🙏🙏🙏 also GOAT discussion guys!!! 🔥🔥🔥

boredbeck

I love how Carson was basically saying “we don’t have enough time in one piece too see everything all the time the story has to move” which is 100 percent true but also really funny considering one piece is over 1000 episodes long 😂. When you start talking about one piece being too short that’s when you’ve truly been indoctrinated; welcome.

Extra Crispy

Yeah it's 7

Sanji Joestar

Um sorry NO. The Paradise half is sandwiched between the East and South/ while the New World is sandwiched between the North and West.

Veritas

FYI it's posted without the tag

Veritas

Y'all pretty much got the geography down, just wanted to add a little refresher since it's been a few hundred episodes since Reverse Mountain. All four of the seas have a path up Reverse Mountain, but Reverse Mountain itself only has one exit, the one with Laboon and the Lighthouse. Crocus, the old man taking care of Laboon then explains further that there are several different starting points to the grand line after the lighthouse, Luffy and crew just happened to go to Whiskey Peak first which lead them down the journey so far, but there are like 7 different starting islands (Don't remember the exact number), each leading to completely different journeys.

Caleb R Mergey

Oh for sure, Oda loooves playing the long game

Tony Tony Helicopter

Smoker was hinting at it too when he was talking about the Seastone cage in Arabasta

Tony Tony Helicopter

Man, I flipping love the after arc parties, and this one is a highlight, a cool pool party with freaking giants and sea kings in. About the Grandline, it very poetic that the "new world" half is located on the same hemisphere as the east blue, the starting point of the journey, sort of saying that Raftle was always next door.

EOussama

M U G A T U !!

Yagi di Hoshi

yeah garp in the live action and anime are 2 different people. anime garp is my favourite, theres a certain charm to him

R

post discussion was great, I am excited to see your journey with the rest of the show. will be fun to look back at these theories of yours once youre caught up and have new perspectives

R

Fun fact Yosaku taught Luffy the sticks in the nose thing when they were partying in Cocoyashi

Sanji Joestar

I laughed when pointing to getting off reverse mountain you went down the mountainside as opposed to the water on the other side.

Nicolas LeBlanc

I guess it's also the anime making it a bit more confusing because in the manga we're introduced to the spherical world with the two lines intersecting when we met Gaimon lol. But the anime so far always depicts the map on flat surface so it can get easily confusing. (Toei are flat earthers theory ?😂)

Sanji Joestar

You're welcome

Sanji Joestar

Love seeing the different kinds of Transponder Snail, the Black one being used for wiretapping. Golden ones activating Buster Calls and Silver ones receiving the signal of the Golden one.(It's called silver because of it's shell buy they mostly look like Old bearded Snail lol)

Sanji Joestar

I think the Navy ships do have to row or use propulsion to get across the Calm Belt which is why it’s not 100% they won’t be noticed.

Envyus

Back in Alabasta, Miss Merry Christmas explained how Lassoo was a gun who ate a df and when asked she explained that it was recent technology on the grand line, hinting at the Navy scientist, Dr Vegapunk. And as Helmeppo explained, he's already figured out how devil fruit abilities are transferred. Which Blueno mentioned in Early Enies Lobby after Jabura freaked out when he saw the fruits, saying the scholars had already explained how the powers are conveyed.

Sanji Joestar

👀

klairvoyage

That’s exactly why I was concerned about it I had spaced that detail, and that was a really important detail I can tell, so thanks for reminding me

BOLDcast

Yeah Saul did tell us about his name being Jaguar D Saul He said he doesn't know why but people in his family have that D in their name. Don't wanna push you to be focusing on every single detail as of course it's also good sometimes to be surprised by informations given earlier coming back, but i think these types of episodes are worth having something like a notebook to help digest.💜 Love the reaction and content.

Sanji Joestar

There was a lot of backlash about that assumption when we were complaining about the log poses simplifying navigation techniques earlier. People were making the argument that the world might not be a sphere or have normal celestial cycles so it’s been something we’ve been keen on looking out for

BOLDcast

The world map is basically a sphere with two perpendicular circles The Red Line cuts the Grand Line in two halves The first one is called Paradise, Zeff told Luffy about that While the second is called New World The Navy battleship basically use camo but still risk being seen by the Sea Kings which is why it's not a 100% guaranteed method. Interesting that the government and marine lie about Garp traversing Reverse Mountain as something like that could be revolutionary for people around the world to find a way to navigate the Calm Belt even if rowing, tells us a lot about how knowledge is again controlled.

Sanji Joestar

I’m it’s been there bruh

BOLDcast

Where’s 314 😭

Amor Jackson

The new world!! If what you watched in the last 300+ eps was considered the "REAL" one piece story and east blue being the intro. Soon and upcoming is what could be considered the "Core" of the story. You have the general format and structure of OP but now things are going to expand even further so I can't wait to see what you guys think about this next stage in this adventure.
