2 more on the way right now!

Love this lore about the manga It's not something big but it's nice to have anyway

A databook revealed that Oda planned an extra scene, one page, before this point in the manga that he cut because of page limitations. It was recreated and translated by a fan tracing Oda's original sketch and I wish to consider it canon because it's meaningful for Garp and Usopp. https://imgur.com/a/one-piece-433-usopp-garp-deleted-scene-qrWJzn9

The Merry situation also gives the ship an actual individuality that became accepted by the crew by the end of Enies Lobby, But not before Usopp was the most stubborn about the Merry because he witnessed with his own eyes the Merry fixing itself to help them. That difference on top of his insecurities led him to fight For the Merry. It's like if Chopper was a normal reindeer on the boat and as time went on he loses limbs and ultimately fell ill while Usopp is the one patching him up the most, until he can't continue and the crew tries to manage his feelings by telling him it's not his fault, the money to heal Chopper was lost but they can still find another one, of course he'd be pissed, because the others don't know that Chopper's an actual person. The Merry was a strawhat and they kind of failed her by leaving her behind. ''She can't reach the next island, that's impossible'', again and again. In this crew where the impossible has been defied multiple times. Which is why Luffy as a captain apologized to the Merry before her last moments. Usopp still struggling to accept it as it probably hurts him the most, rivers of tear flowing down. But like Zoro said, it doesn't matter who was in the right or wrong, leaving the crew isn't a trivial matter and he had to apologize or Luffy's respect as a captain is gone and swiped under the rug. I love that they couldn't ''hear'' him until he apologized. You can tell they care about him, and just needed something as simple as a ''Sorry I messed up'' to get him back And like Zoro said, reasons or not, leaving the crew isn't something trivial.

Zoro's moment as a first mate really stands out to me, and his words after all of that "I can't hear it" is just acing on the cake. Especially after the Enies Lobby incident, they are no longer kids playing pirates.

Zoro flexing that first mate role once again

Black Snow

It was a nice little detail you notice that they didn't hear it because they didn't want to hear it

I absolutely love the way this was handled Usopp, who's whole thing is lying himself out of every problem, having to stand up and be fully genuine in order to fix his relationship with the crew is a great moment for him it takes a lot of bravery to apologize

fia

Shut up Zoro, you were Stalling Kaku for 20 episodes😒. Don't act too big for your boots

Matthew Gilroy

If there is anyone in the straw hats, that can apologize with manly tears. its usopp!!  lol.  Bro's a legend at screaming his guts out and showing raw emotion.

Love the Usopp & Luffy reunion scene! Pulling at your heartstrings one minute then laughing the next, classic OP

Something that has been consistent about Usopp as a character since his introduction is that he is a liar, he lies to the people in his town, he lies to his friends, his enemies and he even lies to himself. To me this scene is super emotional not only because he finally works up the courage to admit his fault and make amends for being stubborn but also because, to me, this scene represents him finally accepting the truth about Merry. The entire reason the fight between Usopp and Luffy started was because Usopp refused to accept Merry's fate. He spent the entire arc refusing to believe that Merry was doomed. He wore the Soge King mask at Merry's funeral which, to me, shows that while he understood what had to happen he still hadn't accepted it yet. But this moment marks his acceptance of Merry's passing and his willingness to move forward from it.

As always, love how perspective you guys are. Lots of reactors don’t agree with Zoro’s reasoning or don’t pick up that the crew is ignoring Usopp on purpose, but you guys understood the points
