One Piece Episode 325 UNCUT REACTION!
Added 2024-09-07 05:23:17 +0000 UTCgonan be a bit of a drought for a few days, just a heads up.
we need to make the podcast but we're still a bit sick. Don't know when the podcast will be done but we can't watch more until it is. So just a fair warning that it will take a bit of time!

Carson talking about Blackbeard conviction was spot on

2024-09-13 15:09:22 +0000 UTCAlso, just a little trivia: One Piece Pirates are sometimes (loosely) based on real pirates, and Blackbeard is one of them. He's based on Edward Teach (or also called Edward Thatch), so yeah, in some ways, you could interpret that by having Teach kill Thatch, Oda is having him kill himself symbolically (whatever Oda is trying to say/playing with here). Roger was at least in some part based on Olivier Levasseur, who also used his last moments to give some cryptic clues about the existence of his treasure (which was never found from memory).

2024-09-11 05:15:48 +0000 UTCThe track at the end of this episode is one of my all-time favourites, which you also heard against Lucci earlier in the arc. It's called Luffy Vs Ratchet, and is from one of the OP movies. Ironically written for a forgettable character from what I've heard (not seen that one), but at least Ratchet gave us these fantastic tracks: there are two versions (parts) which are both excellent, but you know, when this one plays, shit is about to happen.

2024-09-11 04:54:36 +0000 UTCYeah, they've been able to watch it for a while, I think they're just doing their best to keep up with normal episodes. They've had a rough couple weeks but I'm sure they'll watch it eventually.

2024-09-08 02:43:30 +0000 UTCIt really isn’t about sucking the fun out of everything. It’s more about having respect for Boldcast. Right now I don’t even know if they read the comments anymore because of all the spoilers

2024-09-08 02:42:38 +0000 UTCAs some others have pointed out I would recommend jumping straight to the cannon story for reasons

2024-09-08 01:54:09 +0000 UTCJesus what comment thread have I stumbled into?💀 All I can say is loosen up a bit guys. Let's not suck the fun out of everything. And not everyone has discord

2024-09-08 01:49:24 +0000 UTCTruuuue i forgot to check which instance was actually canon or not and was mostly discussing it from their povs But yeap there's definitely an element of anime filler messing with some of the established concepts Manga also reduces the pool of characters aware of it

2024-09-07 23:19:14 +0000 UTCThe somewhat unreasonable cases of: - the 2 gossiping guards at the train station, and - a bunch of Marine 𝗳𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗿 knowing Rob Lucci (just to hype him up) ...were also both just instances of anime-only padding by Toei (in fact, that filler scene w/ the guards is what kick-started this whole thing)

2024-09-07 23:17:21 +0000 UTCBtw I still love y’all’s analysis. Especially the parallels between Luffy and Teach

2024-09-07 23:12:29 +0000 UTCThey usually do a "Discussion Questions Post" for the questions. That way they don't get mixed in with comments focused on the episode
ChocoBoshi
2024-09-07 22:22:58 +0000 UTCdo we ask questions here?

2024-09-07 22:17:29 +0000 UTC@Artemis, I posted it because I saw a comment making that joke and I didn't want the trend to continue. The comment is now deleted fortunately. Even if they don't get what it means, if they see it repeated it will leave an impression and they're not stupid. If people constantly post the same phrase they'll know it means something and like Ty has said, they don't want to know "anything". We have been asking people not to hype specific episodes for the same reason, setting their expectations, high or low, is against what Boldcast and the viewers want.

2024-09-07 21:53:14 +0000 UTCTake your time with the podcast and if you need some little break from one piece after such a big arc
Fabulous
2024-09-07 21:40:13 +0000 UTCI genuinely do not understand why you would want to make comments like that? Like who is it for? All you are doing is potentially spoiling something and making the comment section worse overall. Boldcast has been very serious about wanting 0 spoilers. ZERO. Even just alluding to or making a funny comment about things that will happen. They don't want these type of comments.
Ty
2024-09-07 21:26:07 +0000 UTC@Artemis, I don't know what you mean by "subverting expectations", what I'm talking about is setting their expectations in any way. I wrote a bit about it in the discord If you want to join that so I don't have to elaborate much more here.

2024-09-07 20:17:35 +0000 UTC100% agree. We don't need to play on all the jokes of the community just because they wouldn't know what it could possibly means. When watching y'all probably didn't have someone in your ear telling you something every 2 episodes until you get to it. Let's keep it a safe place and enjoy their discovery. It brings nothing interesting to do that.
Sanji Joestar
2024-09-07 19:08:51 +0000 UTC** Boldcast there are spoilers in the replies to this comment, please don't open** I just want to make a post that's a vague as possible for Boldcast's sake regarding certain joke comments. There is a joke that is commonly made around this time of the show in the One Piece community, most of you know it. I and, I think the majority of, the community would greatly appreciate if we just don't use that joke and or any allusions to future events like it at any point in the Patreon comment section. We should reserve this space for discussion about either what we like about what has already happened, possibly informing Boldcast on things that they missed or misunderstood (Within the limits of information they currently have) or general discussion pertaining to their reaction itself. If you really feel the need to get a few likes for making an extremely tired joke I would urge you to make them either in the discord spoiler channels or at least on their Youtube comment section where at least the interaction could boost their analytics. I'm not trying to be a party pooper but I truly feel like making these thinly veiled allusions to future events are not something that we need, Boldcast are very perceptive as many of you have noted and they will notice what you're doing even if you think you're being clever. They only get to watch One Piece for the first time once so lets try to make it the best possible experience for them!

2024-09-07 16:45:34 +0000 UTCRegarding the CP9 being a secret thing, I really didn't wanna make it a whole discussion prior to you guys finishing the arc, but I think there's a bit of a misconception about how you interpreted it. Remember when Tom made the Sea train, the judge authorized it at the condition that the Sea train would rally Water Seven to Enies Lobby first. That's an important detail as CP9's base is located in Enies Lobby which has ties to the other 2 Government institutions (Impel Down and Navy HQ). Meaning many convoys go from W7 to Enies Lobby for government agents, before it branched out to the other 3 destinations. Now for the mention of rumors about CP9 floating around, you gotta remember it came from Granny Kokoro. She works at the Train Station. And that's the likeliest place she heard it from as she's not a ''common'' citizen and has already witnessed how the government agents act, when Spandam sabotaged Tom back then, or when Corgi was harassing Iceburg as mentioned by Franky in that conversation. She works close to that environment and even mentioned she went to Enies Lobby once with Tom. So Kokoro knowing rumors about CP9's possible existence makes sense. But that's not common knowledge. When Cp9 was boarding the train, the two guards at the station tried to sneak in to see who were those rumored infiltrates, but they were stopped by a line of agents. The only other people we've seen aware of it are the Navy soldiers, and they work with the government. And even then you can see during the Buster Call some marines being like '' That Lucci?" while the Vice Admirals knew about him. And the example with Seastone coated ships(which would actually help traversing the 4 Blues) shows how information is hidden once again through manipulation of the News. They said Garp climbed the Red Line to get into the Grand Line which was a lie so that knowledge rests with the government, and the Navy soldiers are in on some of those secrets. We also have another example of cover-up with Jabura's introduction. When he mentioned that Fukuro leaked their plan, they killed more people than needed(26 dead instead of 3). But the newspaper didn't mention their involvement (it didn't either when the news about the Strawhats destroying Enies Lobby was spread). And the government controls those informations, that's why Cp9 can act reckless sometimes because at the end of the day, one or two people witnessing them won't change much for an entire world where travel, exchange and communications between islands is so difficult (the reason the Sea train was made in the first place), on top of informations being controlled and people being silenced if needed. I really enjoy your discussions and it's been something that bugged me a bit because it had explanation but the whole picture was needed so I just wanted to wait before clarifying that part.

2024-09-07 13:50:06 +0000 UTCRegarding your conversation about Devil fruits here's an Sbs released in volume 45, corresponding to where you guys are right now. R: Hey, Oda! I got a question! It's about the Devil Fruit! During the time with Kaku and Kalifa of CP9, they said that they didn't know anything about the Devil Fruit until they ate it. But during Luffy's time as a kid, how did they already know that it was called the Gum-Gum Fruit? Please tell me! Tell me now! Pleeeease tell me! -White Hunter Fan Oda: Well,l will go into more detail about the Devil Fruit in the main story at a later time. But there is a sort of identification manual for Devil Fruits. It has information about the name and powers of each fruit, But there are a few that even have pictures to go with it. The Gum-Gum Fruit had a picture in this book, but the fruits for Kaku and Kalifa didn't. They had to eat it to find out what abilities it had, and then they would go look for the name. That's how the conversation went. That was in volume 40, by the way.(Ref. When Lucci talks about knowing the power once eaten) He also answers another question asking if all devil fruits have that swirly 🍥 pattern and he says that's right. That's what distinguishes them from normal fruits.

2024-09-07 13:21:42 +0000 UTCBlackbeard having the ability to pull in the physical body of power users before rendering them useless is a terrifying a ability in this world.

2024-09-07 12:51:00 +0000 UTCTake care, definitely understand why you would need to take a break, this was a heavy saga with a lot of plot threads, themes, emotional bits and raw actions going left right and center. Can't wait for the saga podcast, might be my favorite part of your content.

2024-09-07 07:22:36 +0000 UTC26:17 if you remember back in jaya blackbeard said he was "looking for a man with over 100M berries" when he saw luffys updated wanted poster. his crewmate laffitte was in mary joise and said they were scheming a plan to be a warlord. thats the last time we see them but hes been after luffy ever since if BB knew luffy had 100Ms and not 30Ms at the bar he wouldve taken him in, but ever since then hes always been on the hunt for him which would imply his goal was to capture a pirate with over 100M berries to the government to become a warlord. thats basically the history. W reaction

2024-09-07 07:01:58 +0000 UTCBlackbeard literally has the power to Negate all forms of Devil Fruit abilities, it is one of the most dangerous fruits on the sea's if harnessed and used with a level of skill and talent. Which of course Blackbeard is still kind of a rookie pirate that is growing in power and reputation, but it makes sence why Shanks fears him and his abilities and why he did not want ace to battle with teach. The story continues to get more tense and exciting. You will just have to see where we go from here.

2024-09-07 06:30:54 +0000 UTCUnderstood, looking forward to the W7/EL saga discussion. Btw there's a bit of fun trivia regarding Blackbeard, Thatch, and even Whitebeard. All 3 of these characters names: Whitebeard -> Edward Newgate Blackbeard -> Marshall D. Teach Thatch They all borrow from the name of the real life Blackbeard aka Edward Thatch (sometimes spelled Teach). This isn't important to the plot or anything, I just think it's kinda neat how Oda did that.

2024-09-07 05:57:10 +0000 UTCits fine if yall dont post for a while after this, I hope yall feel better. In all honesty ive been wanting yall to get to this point ever since yall ended the live action and started the anime. post enies lobby opens the world up so much with shanks/whitebeard, luffys family tree, the sunny, etc and this episode especially. I usually tell people the first 45 eps (east blue saga) are the prologue but truly once you get deep into it everything until post enies lobby feels like the prologue. shows you how far we've come from ground zero to now in the grand scheme of things. your discussions are always great and its a breath of fresh air and its nice hearing your thoughts on this show transform as you guys progress. yall go deep into it which imo shows appreciation trying to understand what this show is trying to convey as well as theorizing and taking it seriously at times. cant wait to see how the rest of your journey goes but fr hope yall feel better
