I actually for years never noticed this until someone pointed it out that the reason the assassin guy breathes in very heavy right before he shoots explosive out of his forehead is I think because firebenders in order to bend and get their energy from the sun, which fuels the energy of the lungs and belly in which the energy is stored, so when he breathes in very heavily he can concetrate all of it onto a specific point in front of him that he aims at. A little bit like a sniper who also has to hold his breath in order to 100% focus on his target, but just with firebending. Its just such a cool little sub category of firebending.

2024-09-19 14:24:55 +0000 UTCThis episode has so many quotes, which especially Azula’s VA loves to quote at con panels, she’s so funny, and also did a reaction with Toph’s VA to this episode. And I recently read an incredible, TyZula fanfiction story called “blue fire”, which, in it’s first half, retells a lot of ATLA moments, including this episode, but from Azula and Ty Lee’s POV, and focuses on their relationship, both as friends and later romantically, and then the 2nd half is all original writing, with Azula in prison, and her redemption story, thanks to Ty Lee, but also herself. Highly recommended, even if you don’t ship Azula and Ty Lee. I remember I was up till 6 AM to finish it, cause I loved it so much :)
