2024-10-01 22:33:59 +0000 UTCLike I said in my first response, being excited for Boldcast to upload their next reaction because you're excited to see more Boldcast and not specifically the next One Piece episode is great, but its really hard to distinguish a comment like that from a comment that is expressing excitement because the next episode has something special in it. The problem isn't people being excited for Boldcast, its that people have used the expression of that excitement to then give away when something important is happening. For example, people use the "I'm excited" excuse to say "I cant wait for episode XXX, they're really gonna love that", which is a blatant spoiler but people post it with the idea that its ok because its just expressing excitement. Similarly having the same 4 or 5 people posting "I cant wait for the next episode" the episode before something special is about to happen on multiple occasions becomes pretty obvious. Even if individually all they're saying is "I'm excited for next episode" when you look at the pattern its a spoiler. I appreciate that you're willing to respect their wishes. You really should join the discord so that if you ever want to talk about things like this, which aren't related to the reactions, you can without clogging their feed with irrelevant comments.

When the comment section is filled with a ton of these comments it gives them the expectation that something will happen. Also it’s not because I dont want these comments, Boldcast does not want these. They do not want to know when something special happens. Just keep the comments on the topic of the episode and reactions.

I really don’t get how that ruins expectations or experiences if you’re enjoying the series it shouldn’t matter if you know a good episode is coming you’ll still react genuinely I trust they like the series so I don’t think me saying or anyone saying “I can’t wait for this episode” ruins anything but if they said they don’t want us creating any type of speculation I’ll respect that , most of us know things are coming and we still get excited all over again and get the same feels from we first watched , but like I said I’ll respect whatever they wish

2024-10-01 20:14:53 +0000 UTCThey *can* still be surprised, yes. YouTuber's communities do tend to ruin things, true. That doesn't meant that we *should* do those same things. Just because someone can still enjoy something despite viewers undercutting that enjoyment doesn't mean that it is the same enjoyment that could have happened if viewers didn't post those things. There is nothing wrong with being excited for a Boldcast upload, the problem comes from setting expectations from certain episodes. Voicing that excitement, whether its intentional or not, creates an expectation. You may not mean to do it, but that is what posting those words does. Its not up to *you* to decide what is detrimental for someone else's viewing experience. Boldcast has asked on several occasions for us not to allude to or hype up specific episodes at all. All it comes down to is respecting their wishes. If you want to post about how excited you are for specific episodes, post it in the discord. its as simple as that.

2024-09-29 22:05:29 +0000 UTCHey everyone, I’ve noticed that spoilers in the comment sections have been increasing, and I wanted to address a few things about what’s appropriate to share without ruining the experience for Boldcast. Some comments might seem harmless but can still affect the way they react to One Piece. It is especially bad because lots of these comments are setting expectations for them. Here are a couple of examples of comments that we should not be making. Comments like "I love how this arc starts but hate how it ends" or "The start of this arc is slow, but it sets up a lot of lore for the future" are considered spoilers. You’re telling people how they should feel or what they should expect, which takes away from their natural reactions. Similarly, when you comment things like "Oh, the next two episodes are the best! Can’t wait for your reaction!" you’re creating expectations, which again spoils the surprise or excitement for Boldcast. When Boldcast or any content creator sees these comments, it's hard for them to react naturally to what’s coming up because they’re now anticipating something big. We should only be talking about the current episode they are reacting to or past episodes relating to it. We should not make any references to future episodes at all. Let's all try to avoid these kinds of comments and let everyone enjoy the experience as it unfolds. One Piece is one of the best communities when it comes to the anime community, but we have huge issues with spoilers. Also, please join the Discord! 2024-09-29 22:04:15 +0000 UTCThis episode got me thinking about something Carson has said a few times about backstories being the "candy" of story telling rather than the actual meal. In this case we got a flashback that gave us some context about Brook's place in the story right now. I view this as the story telling the events in a non-chronological order rather than it being a "backstory" perse. I guess my question would be, what would you consider the difference between revealing things that happened previously or "non-chronological story telling" and an actual "backstory"? I know that in context its pretty clear but it would be interesting to see how you view edge cases or if you have an actual definition.
