I'm happy to see this as a reaction, I hadn't even known that it was getting an anime adaptation! I've only read the Enigma of Amigara Fault, mostly because of a bunch of the brainrot "DDR... DDR..." and "This hole was made for me!" memes.

2024-10-02 20:42:17 +0000 UTCI knew I recognized that voice. Kirie's Dad is voiced by the same guy that does Ace and Piccolo! I finally make the connection during the scene where Azami met with Shuichi. Shes the voice actor for Killua! It feels like the animation perfectly combines a bunch of aspects of animation. The ones I noticed were their use of 3D models, I'm not 100% sure they used it but some of the scenes feel rotoscoped, and then they have really great still frames that, like Lindsay brought up, feel like a moving manga panel. The scenes where Kirie runs away from Shuichi's Dad and when she drops her bag after seeing Azami in the alley do such a great job of both feeling realistic as well as feeling perfectly in line with how the manga portrays people, if that makes sense. It feels like you're watching a live action Japanese drama with the way the characters move, which is a similar feeling to how I felt reading the manga.

2024-10-02 15:43:15 +0000 UTCThank you for the reaction! I've always wanted to give Uzumaki ( and Junji Ito for that matter ) a try but never got around to do so. So its nice to finally do it along with you guys. Since I haven't read the manga I can't give my personal opinion on how faithful or how well made the adaptation is so far but it seems pretty damn well executed. Also do you guys know if Junji Ito was somehow in contact with adult swim for this production terms of getting his approval or something like that? In general i find it kinda interesting that this is an adult swim production in general. Kinda curious cause I can't remember them ever having done anything like this before in terms of animation. I wonder where they got the idea to produce this thing all of a sudden. Especially cause its not like Uzumaki isn't new or anything. But maybe they just saw how other Junji ito productions had been mishandled in the past and they wanted to give it a try aswell.
