Oda had a tendency to tease/reveal things before they were actually shown in the manga, some of which are huge plot developments and lore so were deffinitly going to have to provide them an appropriate time for watching these films after the story events are revealed in the manga/series. Hell there is some stuff in movie 15 that still has not come to pass in the manga yet.

I get why it happens and its helpful when you're caught up with the series, it just sucks for people watching for the first time.

Every manga reader wouldve already seen those up until this point, they are placed at those chapters for a reason. But now that you have said that these "might be spoilers" you make it impossible for them to read it without building expectations that either the plot and/or characters in those cover story might be doing something relevant for the future.
