Lafitte (the mime looking guy) went to the Warlord meeting to put Blackbeards name forward to prepare for this. Blackbeard found out that Luffy had a high bounty back in Jaya and then started targeting him but before he could get to him the crew went to Skypia. Then when Blackbeard finds out the crew is back in the blue sea at Water 7 he starts targeting Luffy again but then Ace steps in Blackbeards way and he proves his strength. Something keeps getting in the way of him getting Luffy.
