Actually carson real immportant info here: The ending of this episode was slightly altered which is probably the reason why it didn't make a whole alot of sence in terms of closure. Earlier during partying and celeberations, Lola was told by Franky that he had fixed Brook's ship and that she and the rest of the Thriller Bark Victim's Association can use it to get off Thriller Bark. They were actually intending to disembark the very next day, after the straw hats left which is why they seemed so cheerful and happy. Lola then thinks she witnessed something "moving" in the mist behind thriller bark. Then the mysterious shadows appear with the narrator speaking. One of the members says "it doesn't matter because we are not going back to the mist again" From there it cuts to the straw hats.

Maaaaan, what an awesome arc, for real, so many questions answered, and so many new ones asked. I just love the obscure, leave it to interpretation resolutions to stories. It really paints the world as a greater character than the characters themselves, not everything needs to be explained, nor every mystery needs to be unraveled. Fishman Island, let's gooo.

I think it's easier for us to be worried about Ace because we know exactly what went down. We know he fought Blackbeard and lost and now he's in Impel Down. The Straw Hats, and Luffy in particular, are pretty cut off from the news of the overall world. Heck, Luffy didn't even know who Dragon was.

It feels like these moments where characters part ways always have the most lines that you look back on later and finally make the connections, new names being dropped, new world mechanics, etc.. Ace mentioning the vivre card and not explaining it at all, then 280 episodes later it all makes sense. Its this kind of stuff that, even for things that weren't, makes everything feel pre planned and interconnected.

I might be alone on this but if you'll consider trying the upcoming filler I recommend watching episode 384. It's a nice little short story and pretty darn wholesome to boot. I think you'll enjoy it.

If you want to know the extent Toei goes to with Cover Stories, there were easter eggs on the newspaper Crocus was reading, alluding to 2 different Cover Stories. Same with the newspaper Hogback was reading in 378, mentioning the secretary auditions going on in Water 7... that's all you get from now on😹Chopperman filler for the win ig!

As of now, you only don't know 1 Emperor's name yet. At the start of 375 (when the shadows returned to all those people) one Pirate said: "It's impossible that someone finally defeated Moria! He's so powerful that he went up against Kaido, one of the Four Emperors!!"

This is an anime only problem. This is the first time watching this arc in full through the anime, but when I read this arc in the manga I didn't feel any pacing problems.

Thriller Bark in the remake will easily be an A-tier arc, all it suffered from was pacing, especially in the middle part

I like to think that Thriller Bark is two halves. The first half ends with the Laboon reveal and the second half starts with the objective of retrieving their shadows from Moria. Brook’s back story is the epilogue that carries until the end of the arc.

I don't have a specific moment in mind, but i'd say the middle starts when the mission goes from "lets explore a haunted island" to "lets defeat Moria" and ends with the strawhats gangin up on oars. Although there were many good things in the middle of the arc, like Laboon & Ryuma vs. Zoro, imo. the pacing was too slow for it to leave that much of an impact.

Oda and his callbacks 😂love the idea of Vivre cards In a world so vast, the log is helping mapping out the interconnected islands But when you wish to go from an island in specific you have the option to use an eternal pose of said island. If you wanna find your family again, you can instead follow the Vivre card they hold. They basically function like Lola explained there's a main piece from which smaller ones are detached from, and that main one acts like a magnet to the smaller ones.

What is the middle part of Thriller Bark? Is Brook’s Laboon reveal consider as the middle part? I really don’t have any issues with Thriller Bark as a whole, but I can understand for some that when its just the Straw Hats running around, looking for their match-up opponents, that can be consider as dragging. It was the same with Enis Lobby when the objective of retrieving keys to Robin’s sea prism handcuffs was introduced, all of the Straw Hats then started running around the Tower of Justice, looking for their match-up opponents.

Rating thriller bark is really weird, because it has a really strong beginning and end, but the middle part drags on too long. So you end up feeling conflicted when the arc ends. Most of these problems could probably be fixed with better pacing. Just my opinion though.
