2024-11-13 21:53:15 +0000 UTC@Erica I don't think you 've spoiled anything to be completely upfront, but you 're kind of misrepresenting me when you say I said "Oda handles the theme with Nami in more depth/better in another arc" when I just said this : "All I'm going to say is give Oda a chance, he won't just brush through this theme". From that point on, again, I don't think anyone has spoiled anything and of course they can be disappointed though I was not by how this theme was handled, not only in future arcs but in this one as well. The whole thing was that in this episode, it does look like it was completely brushed off, but it wasn't. Just because someone says they are fine with something doesn't mean they are and Oda does not let this theme just hanging, meaning Nami's forgiveness and understanding of the reasons about what happened in her past.

2024-11-13 12:01:27 +0000 UTC1. I'm not addressing Carson or Lindsay in a separate comment, I'm addressing someone else - common sense dictates that replies to another commenter *might* be disagreeing and/or engaging in a discussion with that person, and they've been online creators long enough to understand they should avoid reading those followup comments - *doubly* so when someone literally puts "____ Spoilers" and several spaces in between before they even start typing. 2. What did I ever "spoil"? I put "Fishman Island Spoilers" just to be safe figuring I would get a comment like this anyway (because someone once similarly got mad at me for commenting "you won't learn more about Haki for a while, but don't worry it will be explained eventually" after the word 'Haki' was used in an episode for the first time) - but I just responded to someone implying 'Oda handles the theme with Nami in more depth/better in another arc" (which, I mean - that sounds more like a spoiler than anything I've said, I don't know why you're asking me specifically) and I just disagreed with that while still omitting plot points & character names & being vague as possible. So, what's the spoiler? That they might be just as disappointed by how this topic in relation to Nami is handled in a future arc, too?

2024-11-13 01:32:50 +0000 UTCYou can criticize a moment, but you can also criticize the entire theme. I won't get into spoilers Erica but I don't feel like her feelings took a back seat, there is a whole growth, realization and acceptance that happened in that arc.

2024-11-12 02:15:07 +0000 UTCHachi was always the odd one out in Arlong Park. In his very first introduction he was presented as a goofball and was even cordial to Zoro and didn't seem to show any sign of animosity towards humans. Not to say he was innocent since he still participated in Arlong's cruelty even if he himself didn't harbor ill feelings. Nobody should get a pass for enabling and excusing the actions of their friends. But I have a new perspective on stuff like this since watching Bojack Horseman. The creator, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, has said that he believes that everyone deserves forgiveness but nobody is owed it. And his show constantly shows that it's also fine to not forgive someone even if they apologize, but we shouldn't exclude the possibility of forgiveness completely. Because sometimes it also helps us to heal.

2024-11-12 02:14:28 +0000 UTCBut Nami didn't forgive Hachi. You can work towards a goal that helps someone and even be cordial with them and not forgive them. Look at Katara and Zuko from Avatar. Another great example is Herb Kazazz from Bojack Horseman.

2024-11-12 02:04:09 +0000 UTCI don't think Nami forgave Hachi here. You can work with someone and still not forgive them. Are we forgetting Katara and Zuko? I don't think this is unrealistic at all.

2024-11-12 02:01:52 +0000 UTCWhat I don't like about it is the way it's presented really makes it feel like she's guilted into it - and then forced into spending *more* time with him while he makes them food and everyone goofs off. Also, what does her thinking Hachi is a good cook have to do with anything? Why is that treated like some "edge of your seat" moment? And after the takoyaki thing, they basically have no meaningful conversation after that - just a lot of "s-sorry for doing bad things... don't hate me uwu" on Hachi's part and Nami being in an awkward position where she just kind of has to deal with her because half of her friend group has already decided they like him.

2024-11-11 20:02:23 +0000 UTC[FISHMAN ISLAND ARC SPOILERS] Are you talking about Fishman Island? Because Nami's trauma and feelings are similarly given a backseat at the expense of other characters there too lol. The overall *message* at the end is still nice, but it has nothing to do with Nami and she is still is kind of forced into confronting her trauma and then having to forgive it in five minutes.

2024-11-11 19:58:06 +0000 UTCIts not about what Oda will do in the future. It's about that it's worth to criticize that this moment Nami should not have forgiven so quickly.

2024-11-11 18:28:53 +0000 UTCI do agree with Carson a lot on this. I always felt at this part that Nami forgave way too quickly.

2024-11-11 18:28:05 +0000 UTCI get what Carson is saying by Nami agreeing to help Hachi felt a little thin. I think it was a combination of seeing how much he wanted to save Camie and Pappagu, Hachi being the least terrible of the Arglong crew at the time (no way Nami agrees to help if had been literally any other Fishman from Arlongβs crew), and the fact that Camie really didnβt do anything wrong and it wouldnβt have been or felt right to let her get captured just bc she still had a grudge against Hachi

2024-11-11 12:22:31 +0000 UTCDuval is obviously a mech suit piloted by Michael and Hoichael from the backstreets. They want to take revenge on Zoro for leaving his real family behind :))))))

2024-11-11 11:29:17 +0000 UTCI mean, Hachi was the reason Arlong realized that there were 3 people living at Bellemere's house but yea. Nami is just too nice.
