2024-12-09 22:40:53 +0000 UTCI mean they even mentioned what they are doing while fighting Luffy but ok I don’t want any conflict with the community, regards :)

2024-12-09 20:36:02 +0000 UTCIt's not tho. The episode only talks about Conqueror's Haki. It's like explaining what sea prism stone can do when coated to ships in the calm belt(introduced in Post Enies Lobby), when we're just introduced to the concept of Seaprism stone in Alabasta.

2024-12-09 12:46:07 +0000 UTC@skele *sigh* Are you serious? The very fact that they're named, '' Dog Dog Fruit: Model x '', " Snake Snake Fruit: Model y " or ''Ox Ox Fruit: Model z '' , proves they're classified within a category (Dog Dog, Snake Snake or Ox Ox) And within each category there are specific fruits The Dachshund fruit, Wolf Fruit, Jackal fruit Are literally 3 different dog types. On top of that, when Kaku and Kalifa ate their fruits, they didn't know their names Because they don't receive a mind message telling them '' Congratulations, you've eaten the Bubble Bubble fruit ". Even Lucci told them to IDENTIFY their powers. Chapter 385, page 4 - It's not a fruit of this world. I sense a strange power, something like gravity...and they're not in the illustrated reference book. - That's not so unusual. - You learn the name of the fruit when you gain its power but it's a gamble as to what kind of power you'll gain. Chapter 385, page 7 Lucci: I'm looking forward to this. IDENTIFY your powers as soon as you can. Sbs Vol.45, Chapter 439 Q: Hey, Odacchi! I got a question! About Devil Fruits!! If Kaku and Kalifa said they wouldn't know what their Devil Fruit were until they ate it, how come Shanks knew what Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi was before he ate it?? Tell me! Tell me now!! Pleeeease tell me!!! P.N. Shirogitsunekko Oda: Well, I think I'll eventually get to explaining more about Devil Fruits in the main story, but you see, there's a book of Devil Fruits. It has info about all kinds of fruit names and abilities, but few of the fruit can actually be identified by their shape. In the case of the Gomu Gomu no Mi, there was a picture and everything, but for Kaku and Kalifa, they were talking about how they wouldn't know until they had finally eaten the fruit. That was in Volume 40! Chapter 440, page 17 Blackbeard: He got the fruit that I was searching for! [...] I memorized all the shapes of the devil fruits in the identification manual. So I instantly realized that was the fruit I was searching for all my life! TL;DR: There's an encyclopedia of devil fruits, clarifying and listing them with names and powers. Some devil fruits have illustrations showing what they look like. Most don't. Meaning you either : A- Look at the fruit, identify its shape in the book, know which one it is B- Can't identify it by shape, eat the fruit, use its powers You produce Candle? Check the book if there's already a candle candle fruit listed. If not. Cool. New discovery. A candle candle fruit is added. What's your basis for any of this being a headcanon ? You know all this right?

2024-12-09 11:40:20 +0000 UTCthats just headcanon. never been directly stated or confirmed by oda

2024-12-09 07:28:04 +0000 UTCAlso, as far as we know, Devil Fruits don't follow some intrinsic rule. It is ostensibly humans who observe their powers & assign them names. Having multiple models of the "same fruit/animal" is a consequence of human categorization, not the other way around.

2024-12-08 23:01:17 +0000 UTCThey're referring to the scene in Sabaody with Zoro and the guys he beat up for directions
Sanji Joestar
2024-12-08 20:24:05 +0000 UTCNot the first time Oda had different models for a Zoan fruit. Dalton had the Ox-Ox fruit: model Bison, and Kaku had the Ox-Ox fruit: model giraffe. I know they’re not really the same animal, but it does create a little consistency narratively

2024-12-08 20:08:19 +0000 UTCAnd technically, there's an even earlier mention of it than Jaya – non-explicit but quite definitive one – without elaborating on it here

2024-12-08 19:28:11 +0000 UTCThis was good choice from Oda, he actually did something that no one expect: both Gorgon sisters was not really simple enemies, more to that thanks to this new type of Haki that only Luffy and Boa have, you can immidiately assume, that she has to be strong. Also my take here: I believe Sonia is really cute :D and among those three Gorgons she is more likeble

2024-12-08 18:25:32 +0000 UTCWelcome to the Haki world ! You guys will learn more about Haki in the next few arcs so don't worry and keep watching ;)

2024-12-08 15:07:29 +0000 UTCMy favorite bit of early One piece lore is when Oda drew and colored 4 characters designs as future enemies for Luffy in the Grand Line. All of them from the back. One of them is specifically a tall woman with a slim body holding a glass of orange liquid and having a big snake around her body.
Sanji Joestar
2024-12-08 14:55:38 +0000 UTCYup ! Its first literal mention was way back in Jaya. But it got lost in translation. Which can give that scene a different interpretation. When Blackbeard asked Luffy what his bounty was and he said 30Millions Teach seemed mad and called him a liar. How funny is it that he was thinking '' No way you're that low.'' Then when he finds out Luffy's real bounty (100M) he automatically tries to hunt him. Same amount that's used to consider the Supernovas as big rookies too. It's really funny how the flexibility of the bounty system allows for all these different kind of interpretations for each character and for other characters perspectives on them.

2024-12-08 14:50:19 +0000 UTCWhat Zoro did was more like intimidation. Also that scene was anime only.

2024-12-08 14:44:24 +0000 UTCConqueror's Haki/Haki of the Supreme King/Color of the Supreme King Haki/Conqueror's Spirit etc Are all various translations referring to this form of Haki: Haōshoku no Haki Reminder that Haki can be translated as Ambition or Willpower/Will etc
Sanji Joestar
2024-12-08 14:42:17 +0000 UTCSome bit of censorship with Conqueror's Haki, is that in the manga every time it's used to knock someone out, they're literally foaming at the mouth, passed out. The anime removes that effect.
Sanji Joestar
2024-12-08 14:37:41 +0000 UTCLuffy exercising some crowd control in front of the supposedly "Haki" warriors. Couldn't be a better showing for him. Haki means "will power" and in some other translation "ambition", I guess it's more like people manifesting their wills as a tool for combat, so it's no longer fists and swords and more like ideals and dreams. I love this for One Piece.

2024-12-08 14:17:02 +0000 UTCSo I reckon, with Haki, he definitely planned that since the beginning, but didn't have its "rules" figured out, until Shanks met with Whitebeard, & wanted some plot points to finish before it's explicitly introduced.
Dancing Viru
2024-12-08 14:03:32 +0000 UTCwell, the thing is, Oda did think about One Piece for quite a long time before he officially started working on it. Hints of that does exist in his previous works. He definitely had bullet points planned out, like whatever this Haki is, the concept of an Amazonian tribe, & a thematic reference to the mythological "Gorgons". But did he know all these 3 will be highlighted in the same arc? Probably not. Every now & then he takes a break from the weekly chapter release, in order to research real world references. I reckon after those he softly recontextualizes previous plot points he only vaguely hinted at, into full-fledged, creative interpretation of whatever he just researched.

2024-12-08 13:55:28 +0000 UTCThe zoro moment in Sabaody is anime only just so u know!

2024-12-08 13:20:45 +0000 UTCThe haters will say Oda didn't have this meticulously thought out plan of a power system from the get-go, and while yes it's likely a bit of a retcon that Shanks was using this power specifically in chapter 1, I'm sure Oda was trying to build a separate power system in the background for awhile and it only just began to crystalize to us the viewers just now in the series. Technically the word "Haki" was used as early as Ch 234 (Episode 151), though seems to have been lost in translation, as Blackbeard mentioned Luffy's 30 million bounty seemed a bit low judging by Luffy's Haki. (Though a caption to the side explained Haki literally means 'Ambition', so he could have just been referring to Luffy's personality.)
