A More Civilized Q&A - October 2022

EDIT: This should be working now!

Happy Halloween and welcome to a very spoOooOoooky edition of A More Civilized Q&A. Why is it so spooky? Well, let me tell you: A spectre is haunting the Galaxy -- the spectre of communism.

Joking... but only sort of. We go deep into your Andor questions for nearly two hours in this bonus size Q&A. And yes, we DO share our thoughts on the Star Wars galaxy's leftist theory, the place of (or lack of) religion in the Empire, and the most important question of all: How would we spend 80,000,000 credits on our own space revolutionary movement. Enjoy!

What would he be drawing on from Makhno? How to scam workers by declaring money summarily abolished when it comes time to pay them?

Do I put questions for the next QnA here?

Is anyone else having trouble with the RSS feed? When I import my link, it stops at Dooku: Jedi Lost. Nothing that came out after that is showing up. I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I was a previous supporter but had stopped for money reasons. When I stopped last, Jedi Lost was the most recent patreon episode. But now that I'm back, I only seem to be able to get the episodes direct from here

Also re development of Nemik's ideas into an understanding of capitalism as a system to itself/interfaces with statist-imperialism, I have to assume everyone recognizes... obviously Disney Star Wars but also when it was just LucasFilm; they'll never directly say 'Communism is Correct'. Like they can obliquely criticize capitalism, specifically the symptoms of Capitalism, but as a system... I think there are limits to what they can say, even if they desire to say it.

On the talk of Space Theory, my feeling is that the sorts of people Nemik would be drawing from are the equivalent to Neurodists and Nestor Makhno.

I appreciate Andor rehabilitating Tie Fighters the same way I appreciated The Mandalorian rehabbing a single AT-ST in the season 1 village besieged episode

Rob calling the budget Rebel Death Star "Life Star" is great considering that in Star Wars Infinities: A New Hope (part of 3 what if? comics spinning out from each original movie) the Empire rebrands it as "Justice Star" on the anniversary of the alliance's defeat (but not planetary destruction) at Yavin.

PoC SW fan here. Just never really commented or mention it much.

I know this is in the episodes past this Q&A but since watching Rogue One I've thought that, yes, Melshi deserves more screen time (odd side note, but I believe Force Awakens was the first time a Scottish accent was heard in the Star Wars films (I think Denis Lawson was doing an American accent as Wedge). Anyway, point being that Melshi can get it.

As a fellow PoC SW fan, I can confirm that I almost never talk about it.

while i think theres a lot of yt ppl in sw fandom, i think, simultaneously, poc r perceived as less present than they actually are bc we just dont talk most of time

Luin

I can't believe this podcast has jedi pilled me about Luthen to the point I've transcended to thinking about the "rule of two" whilst empathising with kleya as a force sensitive youngling during the purge... Love the 5 🌟 runtimes! Keep up the good work
