A while ago, I had completed basic mechanics such as planting and harvesting seeds, as well as crops growing after you go to sleep, an item selection mechanic, dialogue, and a shop to add economy to the game. Still, everything was pretty rough. Tons of quick placeholders and the farm looked a bit boring.
After a short break not working on it as much, I finally put on the effort of designing the maps of the world. I used a free tileset from https://limezu.itch.io/serenevillagerevamped!
Other upgrades to note were - Organized the game files, now everything looks squeaky clean
- I decided I will be taking an approach of multiple maps in the same scene in Gdevelop. I had a problem in that I couldn't make the day cycle work simultaneously on different scenes, in short, even if the farm is night, if you go to the village it will be day. It was a headache but now it works
- Also on the same topic, the shop where you sell stuff finally has a proper place to be!
Anyways! Here's the video with full gameplay (so far) hope you like it!!
I have had the thought on my mind for a while and I'm finally taking action to do so!
The plan is to share some insider views and have posts become more regular here. I will just pack up all the things I have done in the week art related in a single post.
The first thing I'm doing is some art to use on the post’s header for future updates
Actually, a roller skater newspaper delivery is kind of cute too
This is how my workspace looks when my brain is in full performance (watching a BigBadBeaver vod while listening to Cheerlader from Porter Robinson)
I finished it hehe
