Hello! Here's the summary of everything that I did this month!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just finished drawing the cover for a comic I'm working on! It's going to be a series of short stories about Usagi's daily life. Ideally, I'd love to release new content weekly, but we'll see how it goes!
Here's the finished cover, along with a little teaser of the comic!
I started this project back in July. It's a rather ambitious full-body 3D model that I alternate between working on this and other projects.
He's wearing a very fluffy, oversized cardigan, which added an extra layer of difficulty to the model since I've never done complex-shaped clothing before. However, I feel like I found a way around it and managed to make it look pretty nice.
Next up is the hair. I want it to look good in 3D space while also being feasible for 3D printing, though I'm still learning what works for 3D printing itself... Usagi has very sharp hair, and smoothing the object without making the tips round has been another challenge.
Sorry about the bad quality, unsure how keep the quality in my ipad screen recordings.
I feel like I should stop trying to be perfectionist and actually finish the model though.
I’ve recently returned to game development after some time away. While I'm still working on my own sprites, I've been using free tilesets for testing. The interior tileset I found has a unique sizing style, which made Luan look extra tiny!
Here’s a preview of how my own tileset is coming along. There’s still a lot to do, but I’m making progress.
For the current direction of the game, I want to focus on polishing some elements of the game such as the UI and more of the general mechanic. I’ve already coded a basic clock to track time in the game. All that's left is to draw proper sprites for it.
Next, I plan to add a feature where the player has to sleep to start a new day and to implement changing seasons. However, the seasons bring up a new challenge: deciding which vegetables and fruits can be grown in each season. I could really use your input on that! Lastly, I made the player able to place the crop tiles wherever they want, though I’m still undecided if this will be an official feature.
Also I'm cooking some horny Luan-Rafa.
That's the end for now! This was a sum of all the stuff I shared in the discord server this month! I heavily suggest you to hop over for real time updates.
See you in the next one!
