I'm Back

The last few weeks I have been transitioning habits and approaches to life in a healthy way. I will get into that more in depth in a in a later post, but for now, I want to update with where I am at currently. 

The other day while photographing the Black Hills of South Dakota, the leaves began to change from lush green to a crispy yellow. Fall has began its subtle yet quick transitions here in the American west, and when leaves change, its vibrant, unrelenting and then, just like that, it's gone. I made the quick decision to fill up the gas tank, and head back to the Tetons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. 

Rolling into Tetons last night, I made my way into Shadow Mountain, a stretch of free BLM camping just outside the parks entrance. It began to rain, bringing snow to the mountain range itself, as well as 2" just 20 miles south. Last night temps were in the low 70's, but this morning was slightly below freezing. With summer ending, and massive tourism with it, I knew being here right now would bring many advantages of photographing such a beautiful landscape through the transition of fall and into winter.

I intend to spend the next month or more between Jackson and West Yellowstone, focusing on both Grand Tetons & Yellowstone National Parks in harsher conditions than I have photographed before in this area. The goal is to hone in on the art of patience, as I have too often in the past put massive pressure on myself to photograph as quickly as possible. My intention is to remain into the area until it either gets too cold and snowy for my (and Freedoms safety), or until I get my fix of photographs, which I don't think is possible in such a wonderland.

With a set destination of where I will be, this gives me an opportunity to handle backlog updates, but also steer into a new way to approach my work. Once again, I will provide a longer update on this within the next few days.  

I don't want to make this update too longwinded, but I just wanted to give everyone an update with where I am at and what the next month will be focused.
