Really starting to nail Aaren's gear, I think.
Not only am I having a great time developing Aaren's story (more on that later), I'm having a lot of fun getting into the design questions raised by her story and world. Aaren's a witch hunter, you see. Something of a custodian of magic in a world full of it. Aaren, herself, is immune to magic, which makes her and her kind ideal for dealing with magic and witches run amok.
So this situation gives rise to some really interesting use-case situations that beg for some design work. Because everyone can do some amount of magic, martial combat as we know it never developed. Fighting with swords and armor is insane when you have magic at your finger tips. But while, Aaren is immune to magic, she is not free from physical arm indirectly caused by magic. So, SHE needs weapons and armor to fight against magic and magical creatures. It's been really fun to basically go back to the drawing board. Leads to things like not having cross guards on your swords, and armor that is more in common with ballistic vests than plate armor.
