To Patron or not Patron-- that is the question!

Following the release of Mysteria Lane beta v1, I am delighted and perplexed.  Over a thousand downloads in 24 hours-- great!  And 1 additional Patron pledge-- wut?

So here it is: If you don't like what you see, no worries.  Sorry to have bothered you.  Off you go!

Selecta stuff isn't for everyone.  It isn't meant to be.  It is conceived, designed, produced and delivered for the Smart Set on purpose.  It is the part of the mental playground I've staked out.  It takes months to build out the imaginary landscape, plot the characters and their motivations, establish the settings, craft the dynamics.  It is designed to inhabit your imagination long after you've clicked the exit button.  And hopefully make you return to it to give it a go one... more... time.  It demands as much of you as you are willing to invest in it.

Nor is a SelectaCorp Entertainment a one shot deal.  A whole universe has been created over years that supports and connects the various elements.  Interlocking arcs support the whole fictional structure.  When you enter the Selecta universe, there are hours-- arguably days-- for you to write off exploring and learning and experiencing.  Many game makers have one game they update and polish.  Since mid 2015, I've produced 5 games (CR1, CR2, CR3. SoW and MLane) and 1 DLC (Dorm Life) module.  My philosophy is inexorable expansion.  I am an Imagination Imperialist.  I want to add to my realm all the time.

So what?  I give everything away for free.  Grab it and smile.  It's porn, right?  What kind of conscience issues are related to porn games for goodness' sake?  Stop here if that's your perspective and enjoy the free games.

Still with me?  That means you like what you've tasted.  It's chewy, different, rich.  Tasty.  Nuanced.  You want more. Then consider becoming a Patron.  And get involved.  Add to the ideas-- direct the development-- get your fingerprints on the games.  Can't afford to?  Then help promote, beta, write, illustrate, animate or code-- you'll be given status and credit for that too.  Become a part of what we're doing.

Or not.  And then I'll assume it is what it is.  I won't stop-- but development will take longer.  Cool stuff like commissioned content (coding, voice-overs, illos in latest) will take longer to finance.  Less games, less cool and less often.

It is your call.

Thanks for your time.  And blessings to all for a better 2016 for every one of us!

Good post, great point. I've enjoyed you're games & stories immensely & it's time I contributed. I'm not in a position where I can become a financial backer but I am a decent writer so am offering whatever help you need in that regard (though I don't consider myself in the same league as you). Let me know how I can help, you can reach me at blackjackgeary at hotmail dot co dot uk
