New Game Project greenlit by Board! Celesta U...

It was close-- a university setting or a power politics playing board?  Board wanted to go back to school, so we're off!  From the FYEO game dev notes:

Player Overview:

Susan B. Anthony University was founded in the hey days of the Women’s Liberation Movement.  Brave pioneering feminists believed a higher educational alternative to the traditional patriarchy-oriented institutions was a necessity. Their dream of a nurturing home for blossoming young female minds was realised when the university opened its doors in the mid 1970s, welcoming a small incoming class of just fifty which has slowly grow through the years. The small university focused on those subjects typically ignored by the traditional, bigger schools- Women’s Study for one—any topic that had been relegated to the academic ghetto at other schools. 

Over time, SAU’s reputation as a safe haven for feminist scholars and students grew, even if the actual student body remained fairly low and static. Despite becoming a leading light in non-traditional disciplines, SAU has been hard hit as larger, better endowed schools expanded their own programs. The smaller school struggled to retain top professors who migrated to bigger perches in more established schools. Likewise, despite trailblazing new territory for feminist scholarship, it found itself losing potential applicants to schools offering more ‘practical’ programs demanded by a fast evolving tech-based economy.  Soon operating expenses began to outstrip a declining tuition and endowment base.  It was only the timely arrival of a key backer who also presented an endowment desperately needed by the university to survive.

Mr. Kempler, a progressive and sympathetic supporter with surprisingly deep pockets, has allowed the school to avoid a humiliating closure—but only just. You’re a Management Consultant forced on a recalcitrant administration of a progressive university facing severe financial pressures. Despite a reputation as a beacon of feminist learning, the institution is looking at a grim financial situation.  The arrival of an enlightened donor, a Mr. Kempler, has helped stem the tide but this new donor, now ensconced on the Board of Trustees, has demanded, as a requirement of his generous donation, the appointment of a Management Consultant with independent authority to recommend and institute changes much needed to allow the university to continue to exist.

That consultant is YOU.

And of course, none of this is an accident.  SelectaCorp has plans for Susan B. Anthony University.  As a magnet for independent, often quite attractive young female students, they see it as a convenient collection point for ‘talent’ with which to feed their own commercial pipelines. They also see it as a giant petri dish in

which to experiment with different ways to assert and maintain control of

subjects.  In short, your mission is to establish control over those who would oppose control of their beloved institution and once securely under your thumb, forcing them to re-create SAU into Celesta University.  On the surface, it would remain what it has always been—but below the surface, your orders are to transform this academic bastion of feminism into a training facility designed to break, shape and mold pretty young things to feed the voracious global appetite for nubile playthings."
