New Patreon Charge Policy Notice

Patreon has advised that they can now implement an "instant charge" procedure. We are, on advice of the SelectaCorp Board, likely to adopt this policy shortly. What this will mean is that if you sign up as a Patron, your contribution status will immediately trigger the appropriate charge for the current month—it won’t wait till end of month (I think).

What does this mean to regular Patrons at whatever level of support? NOTHING.

What does this mean to those who have signed up to increase their support for a single month to access new content? It means you'll have that access and can downgrade immediately-- but you'll get charged for the current month ONLY (assuming you immediately downgrade your patronage before next month I think).

I have NO issue with those who upgrade/downgrade their patronage levels. We appreciate ALL support-- past and present. We have had many loyal patrons who, due to life situations, been unable to contribute at current levels or at all. In many such situations, in respect for past support, access to new projects has been made available in a show of appreciation for this support at their request-- we have ALL or WILL be there! And for many, a one time donate option is preferable to an ongoing commitment. I’ve got no issue with that preference either and grateful for the support!

What IS an issue (and a minor one to be honest) are those who sign up for a day to get access for project/s faithfully funded by many others, then de-patronise the next day after they have what they want. That's not fair. Hell, these games ALWAYS eventually become general access as everyone knows, so this is just gaming the system.

TLDR; If you sign-up, your Patron account/level will be charged ASAP when new policy goes into effect.
