Lackadaisy Keepsake

I apologize for posting this so last minute.  I was originally treating this as two separate pages, but I ended up mashing them together to try to make this a somewhat more substantial update.

The full size comic can be viewed here.

Brilliant. Brilliant art, brilliant characteristic action, brilliant pacing.

David Lillie

I'm gonna have so much fun voicing Serafine!

Chanie Beckman

I really appreciate your input everyone - thank you for your comments!

Thank you for the generous feedback! I'm trying hard to get these updates out as fast as I can, but without compromising on the art. I hope this has all been worthwhile so far, and that I'm not asking for altogether too much patience, though. Anyway, it's excellent to hear that the background details don't go unnoticed. As Serafine is someone who seems to consider Nico and herself to be derived of Laveau-Lafitte blood (however deeply unlikely that is), it's a fair bet that's a little altar devoted to Marie back there. =)

Thank you, Ava =)

I dont think I could agree more with the things you said on this post, also the tension built at this moment is reaching a breaking point, and I believe whatever happens next its going to be a battle of wits. I do believe that anyone who cares for Mordecai is deadly worried at this point. Serafine is awesome but also Nico, have you notice the malice on his face as well as the congregation's, there are too many threats in that room and I think that Mordecai realized now that he might have just walked himself into a trap, maybe underestimated how dangerous these "weirdos" really were. We shall wait and see what's to come next :P

Tracy! This page is amazing. I love all the little, almost imperceptible details sprinkled in: the swampy tree shadows transplanted onto the city alley-scape, Mordecai's claw marks on the chair, the Mambo portrait hanging on the wall in the background (Is that a portrait of a Lackadaisy-verse Marie Laveau btw? It looks kind of like a painting that I've seen of her online.). Anyway, I love how much thought you put into each and every part of your comic. It's totally worth the wait for each page, even though the wait can be excruciating sometimes... I don't say that to pressure you or to be critical or anything. Great art and writing takes time. I just want you to know how much I look forward to your updates. I also want to mention that I've been a fan of yours for years and I'm sorry I haven't commented on any of your stuff until now. I adore you even more since you took that giant leap and quit your job earlier this year. What a brave bad-ass you are! Also, I have to mention how worried I am for Mordecai right now. Am I letting my imagination run wild or is Seraphine about to carve a tattoo into his chest as her parting gift? Because that would just be downright horrifying, but also totally something I could see her doing. What an unsettling, menacing, bone-wearing, strange character you've created! I just lover her; she's one of my favorites.

This is so beautiful, and all the detail in the top panel just blew me away. you're too good

Dylan Gray

These pages have been so quiet, yet so absolutely intense. Amazingly executed. I'm finding myself damn near on the edge of my seat every time a new one comes out. Absolutely excited for the next page!

Ashton Sutherland

Oh Mordecai, in what ways are you not fantastic? None. You are all the awesome. Great work as always, Tracy.

Winter Fox

I'm blown away by your ability with lighting, composition, focus, and storytelling in both dialogue and expression. Wow. I LOVE Mordecai (twisted little adorable bastard) and it's so amazing to have insight into his character from these last few pages, and yet have more and more questions about his motivations and past. Superb job, Tracy. I hope to one day be half as good.

Nat Rodgers

WOAH! That was AWESOME! I remeber some of these from the Livestreams- you've been busy! Absolutely phenomenal stuff as always Ms. Butler, positively astounding! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, YOU ROCK!

Maklarr4000

So good.

Smith

I cant even begin to describe how intense this page is, Mordecai seems absolutely uncomfortable with all his surroundings, and I believe to the breaking point at this stage, trapped among a bunch of people which I believe he considers superstitious freaks, his personal space being invaded like this, threatened with a knife to the heart (which he is disregarding boldly and brilliantly) and now being undressed by that girl, well lets say I'm not expecting this to end well... suspense is at it maximum!. Let the speculation train run wild!

Prince Sitri

Gorgeous (and chilling) as always...

Porcupine

Absolutely breathtaking, as always. You continue to get better even when it seems like you're the best you could be. And besides the art being unbelievable, the plot of this story is truly thrilling. I am constantly awaiting the next update. Keep up the phenomenal work!

Kiki Glover

Also the little detail of his claw marks on that chair are genius. He's totally not in control of this situation.

Sam Stump

That building. Those individual bricks. She's taking his tie off and it's probably killing him. I never trusted her with that knife.

Sam Stump

*HEAVY BREATHING* This has been such a fascinating scene, I can really feel the sense of dread and powerlessness Mordecai (probably) has, despite his efforts to appear in charge of himself. He's in way over his head, probably not for the first time.
