Meanwhile, at the Kitten Farm...

This doesn't really belong here, probably, but a couple of you have asked for kitten updates, so I figured I'd share the latest video I put together for the people who are adopting. (Pardon my baby talk.  It seems only natural to speak to a tiny squeaking  squeaker in their own squeaky patois.)

I've got two separate flights scheduled into October to deliver 4 of the 6 kittens to new homes.  I have a good prospect for a 5th kitten as well.  Number 6 may end up staying here. We shall see.

Anyway, this set me back a lot in September with regard to where I should be with Volume 3, and I apologize for that.  Please at least know I've been doing everything I can do get things back on track as expediently as possible, with the kittens' best interests at heart...and Lackadaisy's too.  I won't miss the daily scrub-down the entire upstairs portion of my house needs every day...or the food, litter and vet bills x6...the ritual scarification of any exposed skin during chaotic play sessions...or the general loss of productivity it all amounts to, but I will miss the little buggers.

Special thanks to Patrick for helping me film parts of this.

So precious!

Such cute little House Panthers! Thank you so much for rescuing them and finding them homes. And for spaying the mama cat. :)

Ha, I was also going to comment on "Viktor's" cameo. It's so funny that you have a real-cat version of him now. And thank you for this lovely little video! The kittens are totally precious... and apparently I've never played kitten-sounds around my dog! Watching him desperately try to search the apartment for the tiny, monstrous intruders was HILARIOUS.

Really like those colored collars. Never had a litter of identical kittens so never thought of doing that. They sure are cute at that age!

Larry Contrary

Love it. Thank you for posting the update, I was wondering how they were all doing and if they were over their initial fears. Sure looks like it.

That's Luca. He suffered some kind of facial trauma shortly before I took him in. He was one of my neighbors' cats, but they weren't really looking after him, and one day (in 2010) he showed up in my back yard, caked in dried blood with a broken face, dislocated jaw and infection everywhere. He's had multiple surgeries since then to try to put him back together, but he's blind in that one eye as a result of the initial injury. Viktor was around before all of this, so it's really just a weird coincidence.

Tracy Butler

That's Luca. He's an unrelated male cat, actually. He's blind in one eye and has some other ongoing issues stemming from a serious injury he had before I took him in. He's a big, friendly baby, though, and loves the kittens. He insists on being upstairs every day. He'll just sit and watch them play for hours. The kittens seem to love him too - specifically his swishy tail. My other adult cats want nothing whatsoever to do with the kittens. Mom cat is outside. She's feral. I initially trapped her too, but have since had her spayed and released. She was not at all keen on being stuck in the house, and her presence was making it difficult to begin socializing the kittens as she'd growl at me whenever I was near... and the kittens take their social cues from Mom. I'm still feeding her, though, and she comes up on the roof to visit them at the window multiple times a day. (That's who the blue-collared kitten was crying to out the window in the early part of the video).

Adorable as ever! It's fun speaking to human and animal babies in a playful voice and letting your own inner child out every now and then. :)

Those kittens are so sweet! I have a big, black, panther-cat, and these kittens remind me of him. <3 I couldn't get a good view of the adult long-haired cat, but it looked like there was something wrong with one of the eyes. Is this who Viktor is based on?

Sandy

So sweet!! They will make such good companions!

Nevi Ozturk

Who's the big adult longhair? If she's not the momcat, she's awfully patient to put up with all the kitten rambunction! Is the mom hiding in the towel covered carrier or in some other hole?

Tracy Reynolds

Awwwwwwwww, how sweet! Thank you for the update :-)
