Post Snafu and Con Recovery

The previous post was supposed to be schedule for AFTER all my cons, in April, when I'd actually have a chance to work on the painting project discussed therein. Apparently my con-addled brain confused May for March when scheduling it! Since I was busy with ConStellation, I only just checked in to realize my error. Again, my apologies now and in the future, when I detail that project for real/as intended!

As for ConStellation, it was amazing. In memoriam Artist Guest of Honor Graye Muir-Lewis had an amazing turn out and sold all of their show pieces; those profits went to Graye's cancer charity. Their celebration of life had a hell of a turn out, and the whole con was its usual welcoming refuge from the world. The rest of our hotel was taken up with various athletes for several high school tournaments, which made for quite the lobby dichotomy!

Four of these bags are just for the art show: Two for Graye, two for me.

Cons take an amazing amount of stuff!

As for me, I didn't do too shabbily, myself! I am hustling to restock enough in time for Great Plains Gaming Festival March 28th - 30th. Three weeks between cons is not my ideal, but I did overstock for CS on purpose so that I'd hopefully have less work to do for GPGF. Last year's event was nuts! I kept having to steal stock from future shows to keep my table from being bare... so naturally I reserved a corner booth with twice the space to fill this year. If it isn't nailed down/fits in WIlhelm Friedrich von Buick, it's coming with! This past weekend, I framed over twenty prints and matted over 50. All that should remain is printing and applying price tags before final inventory and packing.

After I survive GPGF and sleep for a week, I look forward to hiding in the studio and tending to the ongoing craft project that is our castle. It will finally be warm enough at night to plant our vegetable garden in mid-April. I've planned a BIG garden this year because I enjoy it, it saves money and lends a sense of security to *confused gestures at the world* . I'll also be transforming our large shed into my shop so I've a space to do crazy things like refinish our future bathtub, refinish an antique mirror, etc. I find house projects a productive refuge when I'm too distracted by the world to focus in the studio.

On a related note: Between ConStellation recovery and GPGF prep, I've barely been online, and it's been a marvelous retreat from the stress and noise! Naps have proven a far better use of my stretched time.

My nap supervisors.

I know this isn't the exciting post ever, but it's an honest one. So much of the front-facing part of my art has nothing to do with creating it, but instead hustling to make sure I can keep going. My eternal thanks to all of you, new and old, for supporting that in any and all ways! Gods willing, I've built myself just enough of a time buffer before GPGF to sneak some painting in beforehand. I need it, and you deserve it!

Be well and take care, friends.

Raised beds all the way! Our yard's soil is compacted and full of clay. I top off the beds with a mix of bagged dirt and compost (yay, free composter!) every spring.

Raised bed garden, or in ground??
