At the same time, a serial killer (Pruitt Taylor Vince) under the care of psychiatrist Doctor Mallick (Alfred Molina) -- who has just found the killer's revealing journal -- awaits execution for murdering a group of motel guests. When the storm-stranded travelers realize they are being killed off one by one, limo driver Ed Dakota (John Cusack) bids to stay alive and reveal the murderer's identity.

It makes so much sense when you go back and re-watch it and see all the little hints that were there the whole time we just didn't see it. Like him luring his mother to him at the window and you can hear Lew talk to him right before he attacks. It's interesting though that he had more then one psychotic personality, he had at least 3, any one of those 3 could have lived, lol. I always liked that Ed chose to let Paris live then him, he knew she was a good person and thought she was best for Malcolm and plus there was no way Ed could stay after finding out the truth. The reveal of the personalities is my favorite scene, John is so good, I love the little unbelievable smile he gives when the doctor is explaining everything to him. And it makes sense too that they would have at least one of the characters be rude to Paris, who was a prostitute since Malcolm's mother was one. I knew it wasn't going to be Roads, he was just too obvious but I wasn't expecting him and the other con to be partners, I also love the sighs that he was a fake too. Like he was too unhinged and I thought he was a little too angry for the con to be killed and when they find the head, he was about to just reach in and take the key, Ed asked him what he was doing and handed him a napkin or something to pick it up, clearly he would already know to do that. I love details like that!

2023-04-19 09:48:59 +0000 UTCPerfect timing! I've been wanting to re-watch this! Now that I've watched it again knowing the ending, there are very very subtle clues, but the only reason they make sense now is because I've got hindsight. Glad you liked it! This one's one of my favorites.
