I remember him and Jenna saying on their podcast (god do I wish they’d bring it back :( ). That they weren’t even asked to dance during their auditions (no wonder most of the choreography on the show is just walking around lol.) And Kevin said he came up with most of the ideas for his choreography because no one knew how to make it work with the wheelchair. So I do think him knowing how to dance helped with that. It’s a shame he didn’t get to dance more, but as a disabled person myself I’m very glad they didn’t take the easy way out by going “oh look we conveniently found a cure and now Artie can dance”.

And not only in those terms either but was also a pioneer for musicals in tv shows and movies and paved the way for representation of gay and lesbian characters and probably assisted in helping a lot of people come out

So, fun fact. For a lot of scenes, they only film Kevin McHale (Artie) from the waist up because he would be tapping his foot along with the music, which is a no-no for a character that's supposed to be paralyzed from the waist down. I've always found it interesting how they cast one of their better dancers as a paraplegic

I don’t know if you grasp this yet, but Glee was freakin huge!!! Almost everyone wanted their songs on the show and to be a guest, even bands like Coldplay who were super against their music on the show changed their minds lol The Glee cast held the record for most billboard hot 100 entries beating out The Beatles, Elvis, Rolling Stones, for the longest time till Drake just tied with them in 2020.

To answer your question about Glee having guest stars throughout its run yes it will. Some guest stars are in one episode while others will be in a few episodes. Glee was huge so not only did they get multiple notable guest stars the shows producer were also given new songs weeks in advance so performances could be filmed and then coincide in the episode closest to artists' most recent single release, some songs by lesser known artists became more popular due to Glee being such a success that a spotlight on songs on the show gave both the Glee cover and the original song positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the show was also given the rights to certain artists' catalogs. Most notably early on Madonna granted Glee the rights to her entire music catalog subsequently the first artist or album tribute episode in Glee was the Madonna tribute episode this season.

Artie is such a talented dancer and I'm glad this episode got to show that off some

The episode where you said that they looked alike, I thought to myself “I can’t wait for him to find out”. I remember when I saw the first commercial for Glee, I said to my husband, that looked like Idina Mendel. And the two of them singing I Dreamed a Dream…. Cry fest. They are great together

I loved this episode when it first aired. I never fully appreciated Dream on until this episode... also Artie is so adorable. I heard an interview with Ryan Murphey talking about one of his top dancers is stuck in a wheel chair which is a bummer but also necessary. They didn't have anyone else who could make the wheel chair dancing work with out the person have some real skill in his moves.

excited for the next 3 episodes, especially the season finale :) Nice to see you pushing out these reactions so fast. I'm not sure if I brought this up in a previous comment but once you finish the season you should definately check out and react to the season 1 live concert as the live vocals are sometimes even better than the show in my opinion which is on YouTube

I loved this progression: Artie supposedly starts hormone therapy the day before... - stands up "what?" - can suddenly walk "WHAT?" - and dance... ... WHAT?! - performs in a flash mob... 👁👄👁 "oh... this must be a dream or something”

Idina Menzel being Rachel's birth mom was INSPIRED casting. I adore the way their voices go together. This episode is one of my favorites in S1 for the music, specifically for I Dreamed a Dream and for NPH and Matthew Morrison's duet on Dream On. They left it all out there on the stage with that one.

Denni Caid

I dreamed a dream is probably my favorite performance
